Another Request for Buying Advice !

Hi All

I'm looking at buying a second car to supplement our family car and provide some fun for myself. The car will cover low mileage and be used at weekends and the odd evening (I commute to work by train) . I'm considering a Cayman 3.4 S manual, having owned a 968 Clubsport (L725UUS, if anyone knows it ) and admired the Cayman since they were released. Likely to keep it for 3-5 years and then trade in, potentially for a 3-4 year old new shape. I have a few queries I'd like some advice on please

Firstly, can you fit a bike In the back ? I race push bikes and need to carry my bike in the car, wheels off and in wheel bags, frame in a wheel bag. Obviously a visit to a dealer would qualify this one, but I don't want to waste people's time just yet . Roof rack or similar is not an option.

Second, Gen 1 or Gen 2 ? My initial budget was £20k, but reading through the forum it seems there are some advantages with the newer car? If so I'd stretch to £30K and wait 6 months or so for the Gen 2 cars I'm currently seeing in the £33-£34 mark move down (potentially with the release of the new model?). I'm in no rush.

Third, private/specialist/OPC ? Having read through the thread I'm sold on the warranty, I'm Essex based, any experience of OPC East Ldn or Colchester? Many of the Gen 2 cars still seem to be with dealers.

Last, options, I can do without the aesthetic stuff, class that as nice to have, but options that improve the driving experience I'd pay for, PASM? Not required on Gen 2 (making that more favourable?)sport chrono? Sport exhaust?

Many thanks in anticipation
a
Malcolm
