Another starting prblem

Car starts just fine. After a long run it'll start several times and then fails to start. Autoelectrician says battery is charging fine, there's no excessive drain on it. He thinks it may be starter motor or perhaps one circuit on the immobiliser - can anyone shed any further light? I've never had a starter motor problem in the 5 911s I've owned.

Thanks

I have had a number of different starting problem on my 911, when you say it won't start... Does the engine turn over, or do you just get the click of the solenoid if you just get the click and you can bump start it without a problem, then I would say it is the starter, as that is what happen to mine a month ago.. I ended up paying about £200 for a recon Bosch fitted. was going to fit it myself and save £90 but you have to partly the transmission on a G50 box unlike the 915.

Try the cables to the starter and the ground strap on the gearbox first. I started to get symptoms like you describe if mine was sitting for a couple of weeks and the battery was not 100% charged. Got a new battery and checked the charging but it turned out the cables looked a bit rotten and so were replaced. Touch wood, it now seems much better.

I don't even get a click at all - the only indication that the immobiliser is "off" is the noise of the fuel pump when the key is turned to the start position. When the immobiliser is active the pump (correctly) does not even function. That's why I doubt it is the starter. I will try to check the cables though
