Tried to reset my trip earlier - stopped working, also noticed my mileage has stopped counting up on my car. It's stuck on 112,970...coincidence or related, I need to fix this as I like to monitor how many miles I do for services/fuel consumption...and also as I think it's illeagal!

TIA

They don't like to be reset whilst moving it can damage a cog in the workings. On my lux it stopped for 2 days (only about 20miles tops) and then worked again for the next 3 years (when I sold it) so not much help, however,
My wifes Polo had a similar problem I took the speedo out and removed the dial a little glue was all it took and on my sisters skoda a small piece of tube over the end of one of the cogs.
Back to Porsche I think I have seen 944 speedo gears on one of the US websites,

They have them at www.klaindustries.net .

The install is fairly straight-forward if you are somewhat mechanically inclined. Budget about two hours total from start to end.

Also, while you have the gauge cluster out, now would be a good time to take the flaking silver paint off the light tunnels and adhere some aluminum foil to them to improve the quality of the illumination on the cluster.
