another watery question

I have looked at other threads but cant seem to find the answer to this....

there is a small patch of fluid under the car coming from just in front of the drivers front wheel (in line with the wheel between wheel and start of front bumper). It doesnt evaporate from the drive during the day so it makes me worry......

Car is going to OPC Chester today for a seat fix and they will give the leak a visual check but what could it be? Only had car a month and its under warranty........

I had exactly the same problem with my low mileage '98 Boxster a couple of weeks ago and my local independent replaced the cap to the coolant tank free of charge which seems to have cured the problem. The cap was modified and has a new part number. On the other hand it could be the coolant tank which can split but then the carpet in your boot would probably be wet. If you do another search on this board you should be able to find more info. An OPC will charge you about £15 for the cap. One of our fellow boarders may be able to add some more technical comments. Hope it's just the cap. Good luck.

thanks Simon, can anyone confirm if this would be covered by warranty or any other likely causes?

thanks again

Just in front of the front wheels are two radiators either side of the car, one is the water radiator the other is the air con radiator (condensor)
These do go after a few years and usually because leaves and the like have gathered in the front air ducts trapping moisture and causing corrosion.

If there is a green tint (flouresent - now thats not spelt right) to the fluid it is likely to be Air con fluid, dead simple to change yourself and get it regassed

I doubt that it's the tank as Rickster states that the leak is from the front of the car. A split tank gives you a nice puddle in front of the rear offside wheel.

Of course you are correct. Will go back to sleep. Heat must have been getting to me in the office.

Had a similar problem which turned out to be a leak in the headlight washer.unit. Unfortunaltly not covered under extended warantee. Still no gripes had a nice courtesy car to drive while it was sorted.[:D]
