Hi,

I have a new 997 coming in 2 weeks, I was looking for any opinions if the stone chip film stuff is any good,

thanks,

Dave

A resounding yes! And if you are gonna do it, do it now. I have a '98 996 that had it from new and it made a hell of a difference. Does now need replacing but it has lengthened the life of the paintwork without a doubt.

Dave,

Speak to Tom or Ann Wakeford at www.paintshield.co.uk; they are based in Grantham but have agents throughout the UK. They fitted a 3M product to the bonnet, wings, mirrors and front PU of my new 997 C4S; it was an excellent job - taking nearly 4 hours to do.

I had it done to my C4S a month ago!

3000 miles through europe last week not a mark!

It does scratch as it is soft, shows up wax residue against the edges, is not invis from all angles and will probably need to be redone in about a year!

The biggest bummer though is you cant use the jet wash on it or hot water!

Wing mirrors and front chin spoiler and bumper are the most effective in terms of protection

Regards

Jonathan

You can use hot water with the Paintshield product! Also, if you're getting wax build up at the edges, either change the product to one that does not leave a chalky residue or consider that smeone has used a knife to cut the film on your car (!) and the polish/wax is building up in the groove in the paint. A quality film and surface finish should not result in build-up.

The installed at Grantham price is £500 plus VAT; it's another £50 plus VAT to have the work carried out at the OPC.
