steve

Steve, one of my members in the Lincs area has an 86 car in Chiffon white with tan leather interior, like you say, a rare colour!

hi Phil
thank you for your reply to my post, all the info that i have ever cheacked states that chiffon white was used upto the end of the 1984 model year. do you know if you member has a fullleather interior as i have the lot in leather, chocolateish and tan. the parcell shelf, rear wheel panels, dash top and all the door panels inc the door handles and door tops are leather.
i have only ever seen another 3 in the colour, one at eynsham a couple of years ago in the car park which was owned by a guy that came upto me and asked what the actull colour was (i was in the concours) and the other was for sale by paul stephens cars.
sorry that i seem to be writing a long reply.

cheers
steve

I remember seeing a nice one for sale at Malaya Garage (the old Porsche dealership in Billingshurst, Sussex) more than 15 years ago. I think it was 'C' reg, Chiffon, with blue leather, piped in white. Did look pretty, as do early 911s in Light Ivory.

Steve,
Not sure of the full details, never really paid too much attention to it really. If you'rereally interested I'll have a good look at the next club night.

Cheers,

Hello,

Today I picked up an engine lid from a PCGB member who advertised in PP. Peter Ware has a chiffon white 1983 930. He lives near Andover and has had to have his engine rebuild 3 times (long story that). He finished the body restauration -he replaced every panel on the car!!) and has asked Dave Nunn from Southbond to trim the dashboard, door cappings, rear shelf and headliner in maroon leather, whereas the door inners and seats will be cream leather. He hopes to get her ready in time for the festival.

The more I look at that lid the more the colour grows on me. Am I correct that the chiffon white is a shade darker than the popular New Mini colour of "pepper white"?

thanks for the post/reply.
cant say i have noticed the mini white but its very similar to the new vw beatle white.

thanks
steve

Just came back from Walton Hall: counted the chiffon white's for you:
2 3.2 carrera's
2 SC's, one being LHD US spec

And that was around 1 pm-ish.....

Thanks mate, mine was one of them, the A reg parked in front of the river,(3.2), the other was a rather poor conditioned one which was sold by paul stephens cars just after eynsham hall a couple of years ago, has massive indicators on the wing and a lot of bubbleing paint work.

thanks for remembering this post, and what a good day it was, totaly sun burned the back of my legs, better not mentioned the event any more as i will probley get deleted as its not a PCGB one.

steve
ps i see the paul stephens one a lot at different events

Hi Steph,

I was there yesterday ..all day and I never saw you!! [:(] typical ..but it was a very good event and enjoyed by all ..I agree about the sun ...I burned the top of my head ..dam it was hot [:)]

Hi Steve,
yes I saw your car yesterday as well. I agree it is an unusual colour but not unattractive. I saw the other one as well and as you say needs a bit of work, but I bet its loved by it's owner. I got frazzed on the back of the neck!
Thought the event was very good and well supported, and a phenomenal array of cars of every type. Whaddya make of the purple job in the concours?
My only disappointment was that I didn't meet John Boy.[;)]

Graham

hi jason, i did keep my eyes open for you, i got there at 9.30ish and left when there was about 10 cars left, all the stands had gone and all. all ways the last.

i bought some leather dye...see post on the concours bit.

steve
ps...next event we both go to we will have to arrange a point to meet up again
s

hi graham, i think the purple car was very nice, although i like them to be original, but if we all had them as standard i guess it would be a bit dull. i did take a photo of it as my boy is into all things modded.....did your read the info the owner had in the front trunk about the car, if not it a 70s sc.

steve

Yes, a truly amazing job ....I sort of liked it but my wife hated it ...my son would have loved it. Hardly possible to be anonymous though. If you get a sec, wack a photo on here..it may be banned as I didn't see a PCGB sticker on it but as you are a proven member I expect you will get away with it.

hi jason, we met up with a couple of friends from our old region and then spent the rest of the day with another couple who we met at chatsworth.
have you got anymore events planed yet?
its nice to see cars that are old, even modded, but very well looked after, that purple car lives on the road, so i have to take my hat off to the owner.

steve

we are going, after a lot of debate, its 15 mins from our house.
we are going to go camping in whitby for a week from the 14th, and thats about 45 miles from raby castle where the north yorkshire are having there concours, also on the 14th. i did want to enter but plans have changed, my sister is getting wed on the saturday so cant go on that day(13th), so we are going to pack the car (not the porsche) on the saturday night and set off about 4.30am on the sunday, get pitched and then drive over to raby castle, should be good, a lot of miles.
