Any suggestions on a pre-purchase check specialist ?

Well,

Went out today to have a look at a couple of earlyish 996s (1999/2000) and ended up putting a deposit on one... A LHD C2 tiptronic with I think, all the extras. :)
Didn't quite plan to do this today, but hey, the car looked good, and the price seemed right.
Now, since I do not have much mechanical know-how and since this dealer isn't a Porsche specialist (specialises in selling Mercs mainly), I am pretty sure I want the car examined before paying the rest.
Can anyone suggest any specialists doing pre-purchase checks ?

I've seen ads for Automobile Buyers Services Ltd, as well as Sports Car Guides in 911 & Porsche World...
Then, there's of course outfits like RAC, although I suspect they may not have the specialist knowledge...

Go on, do a good deed, help a Porsche newbie. :)

Nik.

Sorry, it was late and I forgot the 'minor' detail.
I'm in London, the car is currently in Essex near Chelmsford.

I see in the FAQ Peter Morgan being mentioned.

Finally, any suggestions on Insurance brokers to try ?
The car will (unfortunately) be parked on a street in London. Use will be fairly light though - less than 6000 miles per year.
I have 6 years protected NCB so far. (The car is a LHD model as mentioned previously)
Anyone here who was in a similar situation regarding insurance when you got your Porsche ? Who did you use ?

Regards,

Nik.

Hi Nik

Best advice would be to arrange a detailed 84 point check with the nearest Porsche centre, upon completion a comprehensive report accompanies the inspection and furthermore a application for purchase of extended warranty becomes available.
This is a fool proof sytem and a great piece of mind for new ownership.
Enjoy your 996 motoring.
