Anybody fancy a karting trip in Glasgow?

Not sure whether anyone else would be interested, but the latest cheap deals from Scotkart look pretty good. Thought I'd share the info. If anyone fancies having a go, I'd certainly be up for it"”either as a PCGB event or just a bit of ad-hoc fun.

Their endurance races"”60 minutes in teams of two, changing drivers whenever you like (they recommend eight to ten minute sessions)"”are on offer at £39.50 per driver. You need 18 drivers minimum to book exclusive use of the track. You get a ten minute warm-up to get used to the track and karts before racing starts.

They're also offering an "˜Ironman' race"”every man for himself for a solid thirty minute non-stop race, with a five minute warm-up. That's £40 per driver but you only need ten drivers to book exclusive use of the track.

Both events are available Sunday afternoons and Sunday, Monday or Tuesday evenings at Cambuslang, or Sundays only at Clydebank.

I've done the endurance events at Cambuslang before and they're brilliant fun. The track's great and the karts are (mostly) evenly matched.

I'm knackered just reading that Tony!
Think I'll give it a miss. I may spectate though.

There are quite a few keen karters in the region, very interested as will 90% of the trackie contingent.
Are you up for organising , taking deposits, and arranging dates ( stressful )
Mike

I'm not sure my credit card would take the hit of booking it all up, but I'd be happy to do the organising if everyone phoned up and paid direct, or could pay on the night.

First things first though, it's all academic if there aren't at least ten folk interested.

Tony,

we have done this before and its a great night, your most welcome to organise one for the club and count me in,

It is difficult getting people to commit, and deposits etc,

we are planning a PCGB vs Tipec karting event later this year, which will be a giggle I would imagine, all our trackie (with no ego) guys out to prove their status. Us ferrari guys dont need to, we just need a big stripe up our bonnet [;)]

give me a buzz if you want as I dont think your going to make sunday, but perhaps you'll be along at riverhouse on wed next week.

cheers
scottie.

Would be up for that too shifts allowing can i have mine with a blue light please [:D]

Tony , a good way of organising a karting event is to settle a date and commission say 5 people to guarantee 4 drivers (their loss if no shows )
My advice is to go for a 2hr enduro and consider the total team weight as wee skinny ba^^^^ds have a bit of an advantage.
We did an enduro in 2007 as Team Fuch'd , complete with T Shirts and it was great fun , could have been even more competitive if each team weighed the same....

So there you go a couple of tips from the top??
Mike

PS another option is team age in yrs ( total ) but no under 18s..
Karting against the polis.... bring it ON [], just remember to shuffle the steering wheel a la roadcraft manual [;)]

and consider the total team weight as wee skinny ba^^^^ds have a bit of an advantage. Thats me screwed by about 10 seconds a lap! Unless I get a 5 laps start on you all[:D][:D][:D]

There's no weight limit that I know of, but I'm told the kart seats can be quite uncomfortable for really big guys.

Thanks for the good ideas Mike. Looks like there's eight takers here already, which bodes well. Scott, I'll see you on Wednesday night, so how about we put it to everyone there on the night and see if there's any more interest?

Now I found my wheels ( todays adventure in the cleaning day out) there is no stopping me [;)]

girls against boys? [8D]

count me in now that I'm no longer penalised by physics........(i.e. pies put back in cupboard!)

Jane, we're most likely to use Scotkart's Cambuslang venue.

Scotkart, Westburn Road, Cambuslang, Glasgow G72 7UD.

Looks like there's enough of us to go for the Ironman 30 minute race, even we can't rustle up enough takers to qualify for the one hour endurance events.
