Going to view this Sunday afternoon (but leaving home Saturday lunchtime). Anyone know the car? I see it's got 18" wheels, I think maybe from the Boxster range, with 225's on the front and 255's on the back - so wonder how harsh the ride will be compared to my coupe on 16's, 205 fronts 225 rears.

Also a bit concerned about the mileage - it's almost exactly double mine on a car that is only 1 month older!

Any thoughts appreciated.

I don't know the car but it looks very well presented and the engine shot is amazing. I thought mine was reasonably clean but that looks concours standard. I note that the pics are from 2 years ago...........

As far as the wheels/tyres are concerned they are going to be much lower profiles than your 16's and will presumably be noticeably harsher. A cab with Tip is more of a GT than a sports car and I suspect the 16's would be more in character. However those 18's will certainly sharpen things up! I've only driven on 17's so can't compare but my car definitely doesn't like rough surfaces. Obviously it has the full CS supension and the Konis are set hard, whereas this cab will have the standard setup which might be fine with these 18's. They might give a very good compromise.

The test drive will tell you everything. The first 968 I saw/drove was a red cab, and that's why I had to have a 968, so I would be very tempted. Good luck!

On the mileage, I wouldn't be concerned if it's been as well cared for as it seems. You know what they say about very low mileage cars as against well-used ones, and these cars are supposed to be good for at least 200K miles. It's probably half way through its life! [:D]

Chris. I dont know the car.
BUT
I owned a cabrio [ manual ],a few years ago, that i fitted a set of 18" Sport classic wheels to. I used it for about 6-8 months with them fitted and removed them as it was a harsh ride. And the scuttle shake increased. I reverted back to a set of the Cup2 17" rims. My car was on standard suspension apart from the front springs were the lowered Sport versions. So still semi soft, ish....
The car started on the 16,s then went to 18,s then back to 17,s and the 17" wheels were the best,,, for me....
Just my 2pth....
Happy hunting....

Thanks guys, you're confirming my suspicions - but I guess after 12 1/2 years of 968 ownership I should have some idea about them!

As I posted a while ago, ideally I'd like low mileage and A/c to go with Guards Red tip cab, full history and non-black interior, but at a guess that combination is very rare so maybe this one is as close as I can reasonably expect to get. Sunday will be interesting - drive from Aylesbury to near Kidderminster to see the car, then home 200 miles!

Well, for anyone that's interested, I've seen and driven the car, the wheels ruin what is otherwise a lovely car, the history "file" consists of a bunch of stamps in the service book, some receipts from Porsche Nottingham where a garage bought cambelt change parts in 2008 (that garage being the only stamp that does not say Porsche or Porsche Specialist...) and a more recent 12k mile service invoice from Porscheshop - where they used semi synth oil instead of fully synth. There's also a couple of electrical gremlins - central locking does not work, alarm lights in door buttons do not work.
Lots more detail on my similar thread on 968uk.Debating what to do - 968 cabs are rare, red and tip even rarer, but finding a set of 17" cup 1's (cost?), the 18's would be saleable but need refurb, plus I'd have to get the belts and water pump checked. The blue cab in Cambridgeshire at 64k miles and similar price might be better, but could I live with that blue interior, particularly the dash??
