Anyone assist? With squeeky roof

Hi All

Recently my car has started to sound like it's got a Parakeet stuck in the roof just behind the wind deflector. It's "doing my head in". I can seem to spot what is causing it.

Has anyone had similar experience and can help?

I assume you mean when the hood is up (disregard if not!). From outside the car try just pushing in the fabric gently in various places in the rear quarters, ie between the rear window and the rear of the door, on each side. You will probably find this causes the fabric to squeak where it is clamped by the clamshell. Solution is to half open the clamshell and lubricate the seals in that area where they clamp the hood material - use BMW Gummi-Pflege as recommended by Porsche, or some similar rubber lubricant (!). I had this same problem when my 2003 was about a year old. Drove me bonkers until I found where it was coming from. If you can't make it squak to order just go round all the seals anyway. Good luck.

Right i think i have found the offending seals but can anyone suggest what "lube" to use? KY? [:D]

When I bought my BMW Gummi-Pflege (literally rubber-maintainer), according to my OPC a formal Porsche recommendation, it was in tubes, BMW part no 82 14 9 407 015, from my local BMW dealer. I had heard it had changed to an aerosol, but the one tube I have will last a lifetime.
