Anyone driven the R8 yet?

I haven't but the reviews seem reasonably positive about it. It seems not to be quite the driver's car the 997 is but certainly gives the C4S a run for its money. Audi seem to have something for everyone and I am personally looking forward to seeing the V10 RS6 next year (March I believe).

Read the EVO report on it - unfortunately this was comparing it with a C4S with a powerkit, so not completely representitive, but they rated it higher than the Porsche - which is a first for them!

My desire to own a 911 was encoded into my DNA from an early age - growing up with picture of supercars, who makes them and what they look like.

An R8 just isn't going to do it for me...no matter what it drives like.

Auto car (or similar memory is hazy on this one) did a review with the C2S, £15k less and was seen as the better drivers car and more rewarding to drive than the Audi which of course won points for being a n underpriced lambo (looks, build interior, novelty or "feeling special")

Me I'd have the C2s or the Lambo not go for the half way house Audi - even though it is very pretty.

The R8 simply fails to have the elegant lines that drive me to admire my car whenever I catch a glance.

Interestingly on the same evo - the article on tinming the Audi around the Aerodrome says this "It is not as sharp and incisive as the rear drive 911 but its far more friendly exploitable and enjoyable than a Carerra 4"[:D]

So maybe for the main article they should have compared a well specced C2S Powerkit, it might not have been as quick point to point but may well have won on driver engagement/enjoyment if the author had the same view as at the Aerodrome[:D][:D][:D]

Before I get jumpoed over the 2 vs 4 wheel debate I am relfecting the journalists views not mine - I have yet to drive a 4 wheel drive 911 so couldn't comment either way.
