Anyone else got this brake set up?

All,
My car is in for service at present and disks and pads are needed (as per my other post!).

It looks like my car has std RS disks but larger calipers which are some sort of flavour of "Big Red" I think (they are definitely not std RS calipers according to the mech).

Apparently the pads are std RS pads rather than anything larger.

Does anyone else have this setup, seems like a strange half way house to me but AFAIK it is how it came from the factory.

Piccie below;

Thanks,
Kevin.

They look like 993TT calipers which have the same width of pad but are deeper than RS caipers.

I have them on the CS

thats what i have on my rs,964 3.6 turbo setup, pads calliper, and discs are different than 964 rs,diameter is same but offset different,993 turbo is the same up front,i find them easier on the discs and look good

Thanks Guys, so it looks like I have std RS (this is definite) disks with possibly 993TT or 964 3.6T calipers?

As stated my current pads are std RS, the larger turbo pads will not fit apparently as they are too big for the std RS disk.

Hmmmmm....chfs911, this may be the same setup as yours by the look of it?

Thx,
Kevin.

Kevin,
I wonder what the advantage of your set up is, if it is running standard size discs and pads ? Presumably there is a benefit in the form of increased heat sink capacity of the larger caliper (and presumably increased volume of brake fluid). On the other hand, there must also be a (negligible) weight penalty ? The clamping force of the Big Red caliper may be greater (I assume they have bigger pistons), but I'm not sure if this equates to more stopping power given that it is transmitted through the same size pad and disc ???
I'm curious - anyone have any thoughts (other than cosmetics !!!)

thanks,

Jamie
