Hi,

My 2004 996 has the PCM2, but with some sort of 80s Porsche telephone. Other than looking a bit naff (see photo) the phone stops the passenger seat moving forwards. I'd like to scrap it seeing as it's illegal anyway and convert to a handsfree bluetooth phone kit of some description.

I'm wonedring if anyone else has done this and what they used? When you remove the phone from the centre console side pod, I assume it leaves holes behind? How did you overcome this?

Thanks in advance! Oh and if anyone's going to Silverstone, see you there!

Neil.

I fitted a Nav-TV Tooki Bluetooth kit to my brother's Cayenne Turbo last week (PCM2.0). They are horrendously expensive new, but he got a second hand one on eBay for £150.

If you remove the handset you have to replace the side cover for the console. They cost a fortune in leather (£245+VAT), but the vinyl covered ones aren't too bad (£38).

Edit: If you did change it, and wanted to sell the old side cover/handset mount I would be interested in buying it to mount my TPMS display.

Thanks Richard. I'll start looking out for a vinyl side cover. If I manage to find one and fit it, you're welcome to the old one.

Hi Neil,

I have the Parrot 320LS Colour. Was fitted by Halfords in-store (well, in the car park anyway). Link below.....

They go through their compatibility list and some car stereos require an additional and EXPENSIVE cable adapter. I checked, and you don't need it with the PCM1 - get them to double check if they suggest it.

Guy at Halfords did a decent job but think out where you want the unit to be placed first. They tried in a few places and it kept coming off the shiny dash or leather or obscuring dials etc. In the end I used a bit of blue tac and squished it in front of the Sat Nav Disk where the plastic is nice and flat - don't worry about it covering the disk area as you never need to take it out.

I have had several SonyEriccson and now a HTC Touch HD2 all on Orange and once its synced all you need to do is leave the Blue Tooth on your phone on and as soon as your in the car and running it automatically switches from the phone to the car. Really couldn't be simpler!

Can send you a photo of where I put mine if you like.

All the best,

Rob
