Did you get anything good this Christmas? I'm talking mainly porsche related stuff, but anything else interesting aswell. The wife got me a few books and some mud flaps from America. And my brother got me a pair of Goodyears for the back.

Sounds like you did well. I'm going to get a new head unit for the car with some vouchers I got for Christmas and have just bought a little present for myself to compliment it - a pair of new JBL 2-way speakers off ebay for £18!! Looking forward to ditching the cassette head unit and getting some new tunes in the car.

My favourite was this cheap sanding kit. Only cost a fiver, and will do the bit of surface rust I have on the drivers front wing spot on thanks!

...............and the rust on the back of the 4 year old Focus[]

Not specifically 944 related, but my good lady got me a NavMan F20 (see HERE for info ) which does indeed fit in the porker (amongst others [8|] ).

It's far from top of the range, but is astonishingly good for the money, small enough to slip into your pocket, and does everything I'd need it to. (Full postcode searches, touch-screen input, failry large display with 3D view, fixed camera location warnings, 3+ hrs battery life and recharged via usb socket, so you can site it somewhere suitable and don't have to have the in-car charger cable dangling all over the place, etc etc).

It's also confirmed that the S2 is doing an actual 80mph at an indicated 83mph ~ pretty blimmin accurate in the speedo dept then. [:)]

On the basis that the best pressies are the ones you buy yourself (i.e. you always get exactly what you want . . .), and having let my 3.2 911 Carrera go 6 months ago, because A/ it didn't get enough use, and B/ if I did use it properly (and if ever a car was designed for a right caning it was the 911) and broke it, I'd be even further in the financial brown stuff than usual, I brought myself a gutted, roll caged, race seated and belted 944, and all for the outrageously expensive hit of two and a half grand! All the ingredients for absolute riots! And, at a price I won't have heart falure at if something goes amiss. Always fancied a 944 anyway. Now I'm gonna find out . . .

I'm sure you'll love it. There are a couple of guys at work, one with a £50k 996 X50 turbo and the other with a £40k 993 C4S. I went on a track day with them a few months ago and had to giggle when I saw how cautiously they were tip-toeing around the track for fear of getting it wrong and trashing their expensive cars, then as soon as the main straight opened up they would floor the things. Seems a pointless to have such nice and pricey machinery but too afraid to use it. The 996 turbo doesn't half shift when it's floored though. It is visibly much much faster accellarating than anything I have ever seen, even Ferraris and other cars that are supposed to be as quick on paper. Simply awsome.
