anyone got a clock for an S2?

Hi guys, got another niggle with my S2 cabriolet - the clock (time one) in the dash has been knackered since i got the car and the lack of time information is starting to nag me. Anyone got a car they are breaking and want to get rid of the clock module? Or even just a clock module kicking around at the back of a garage.

I have already tried the usual suspects for a new one, but most either don't have one or quote some ridiculous price. Haven't tried Bert yet but will get onto that over the next few days.

Cheers
Sid

Sid,

Clocks tend to go pfut on these pretty regularly, therefore operational ones from breakers are slightly sought after (and are priced accordingly.) Porscheapart wanted £45+VAT+Postage last time I asked, which seemed steep.

Yes, I am looking for one too. What's gone wrong with yours? My LCD screen has bled - it works, but there is an (encroaching) black blob at the bottom of the screen and I can't identify who made the screen ...

The LCD on mine still works - well sort off anyway. I think it might be the microporcessor that is knacekerd on mine as the right numbers do not show on the lcd - either that or bits of the lcd are humped.

In either case, there is no way i'm spending more than a few pounds on getting it fixed - ill just buy a cheap digital clock duck tape it behind the hole in the dash before i pay 45+VAT for the clock. Thats way too pricey.

Spot on.

It may be worth taking it out and having a look at it - there are a number of not-very-well-made contacts on the inside which may well respond to a bit of TLC.

If you do resort to the cheap clock and duct-tape option, I could be quite interested in your LCD screen. (i.e. Please don't put it in the bin!)

£60 + VAT last time I asked - although judging by the prices they're going for on Ebay it doesn't seem that unreasonable, but by the same token it does seem a little unreasonable for a silly little clock that's bound to break!!

I'm after one too. My screen hasn't bled, and the light works, but there is a white mark in the middle of the screen - as if the plastic cover and glass screen have been allowed to contact.
