i've been having a look around at ways to save weight in the car, i dont want to go 100% stripped out tho.

Ive seen that the seat delete kit is available just wondered if they are worth the money or if i should try and carpet that bit myself?

I'd try carpetting it first or you could just remove the head rest and leave the base of the seat in place. Anyone know what the base weighs?

I guess i dont want the job i do to look pants, i have no patience with things like cutting carpet.

I was seriously thinking about one of these until the recession knocked out my annual bonus. Might look into it again next year though.

Ive had the seat base out a few times and it really doesnt weigh much. Its not much more than a bit of sound deading and foam for comfort. I would want to install sound deadening if I was using the car for a daily driver so by the time you have replaced the seat base with carpet and sound deadening you probably havent saved much weight.

Sorry I think I may be missing something with this rear seat delete kit but what on earth is the point? It is not as if the thing is cheap - far from it. For less money you can remove the seats yourself and have a professional car interior bod carpet out the rear. I just simply don't see the point. This was the route I was considering before I decided against it - i'm always torn about how much to mod the car and I think i'm going down the (mostly) stock on the surface, but modified under the skin look, so, for now at least, will keep the rear seats.
