My car wont start again and after checking things out the dist cap and rotor arm look pretty worn. I don' t know if its the cause of the non start but they certainally need replacing.

I can get an arm locally but no luck with the cap. It may be I wont be able to order one till tuesday which means wednesday at the earliest before i can carry on testing grrrr..

Does anyone have a new spare around that I could have and then replace?
I suppose even a used one that we can be sure is ok might get me going again.

If you can help then please give me a ring on 07961 420817. I' m in Milton Keynes but obviously will come to you if you can help.

Thanks

Andy

Got a Bosch cap for my car from Eurocar parts. In stock - not expensive, and not far from you in MK nr the B&Q in Bletchley (old A5 / V4)

Happy hunting. PS - they also had a rotor arm in stock. Take your old one just in case though.

Doh!... Didn' t think of them!

Just called them this morning and they have one so hopefully I' ll be going again tonight.. I wish!

Thanks Steve

No problem

P.S. where didyou get the screw in valves as fitted to your wheels from ? - I like them. Also, I remember you saying you had lost one. Is this typical or a " chimpanzee" manouvre @ point of fitting...

Good luck with starting

I got the hidden valves from Simon at Essential Styling.

One broke while being fitted... Who can say whether it was an over zealous tyre fitter or whether it was defective. I tend to think the later as it would surely take quite a bit of strength to bust a steel fitting. Simon sent me another with no problem.

Be aware they look nice but can be a pain in the butt when blowing up the tyres.

OK... I' m going again! [:)]

As to whether or not the dist cap and rotor ' fixed' it I cant be sure. The problem was very intermittant so it could be it fixed itself again. However, it may be my head playing tricks but the car seems to start easier, idle more smoothly and go quicker!!!!

The old cap was in pretty poor shape and the rotor arm had bits missing and cracks in it so they were definately needed!

Cheers

Andy
