Iam after a cooling fan relay to try for my 944 oval dash 86 model.Has anybody got one to sell for a reasonable price please?
Early model is not the same.
thank you
Alan

When I was doing the same with my '86 lux we tried to swap one from cars at Frontrunner one year. Not a single car there had the same relay, mine was the same size as the DME relay, all the other cars were double width. Make sure you try the right one, is it easier to just buy a new one and forget about it for 20 years? [&:]

Turned out mine was the switch on the rad, not the relay anyway, have you tried that first as it seems to be the common failure.

yes we've been there in other threads Paul but for some reason C C is convinced that the problem is the relay .

I have posted about this with schematics in other threads but it gets ignored [:(]

The early 944 Lux has a very simple rad fan circuit which should be very easy to troubleshoot . The later models and turbos , S2's etc had the larger multi-relay which also controls the A/C fan etc

Any relay that has the same physical dimensions and the identical numbers and positions of terminals will fit and work . Even if it is an indicator relay from a Ford Mondeo !
It is just a simple SPST switch like a light switch with a single energising coil with 5x terminals
ie 1) 12v+ , 2) 0v, 3)common, 4) NO (normaly open) and 5) NC (normally closed)

I would suggest the wiring needs a proper systematic troubleshoot by an auto electrician with a decent schematic or at least by someone with a modicom of electric wiring and electronics experience.

I removed my relay a week ago as the fan stayed on.When the engine was stone cold this weekend,I refitted the relay and the fan came on straight away.
Peanut Im not ignoring your valuable advice honestly[;)]but is it still likely to be the switch rather than the relay with these symtoms?
thanks
