Anyone got any original magazine articles on S2 / Turbo?

My fascination for the 944 began when Peter Dron (editor of Fast Lane mag from '84 'til it became crap) ran one as a long termer (sometime around '87 from memory).

Unfortunately (and it's difficult to explain how much I now regret this....) I decided during a flat move in the '90s that it was easier to toss my far-from-pristine (but fully intact bar the first 6 issues) collection of Fast Lane mags into a nearby skip than to squeeze into the overflowing transit I'd hired. These contained some superb 944 reviews and tests []

So.... any of you guys have any original mag articles? [:)]

Get "Porsche 944 Ultimate Portfolio" by Brooklands Books ISBN 1 85520 5602

The book includes reprints of many great magazine articles from '81 through to '91 with pieces taken from:-

Road & Track
Motor
Autocar
What Car?
Sports Car Mechanics
Autosport
Performance Car
Sports Car World
Motor Trend

and...........

FAST LANE [:D]

Nothing from "Hot Car" or "Street Machine" though [8|]

Greg - thankyou! That was fun. [:)]

John - superb! Sounds perfect! Will go hunt it down..... [:D]

Well it's ordered (but 3-5 weeks delivery!) []

I fully expect you/graeme to fight over who borrows it first......

John - does this include any group tests or is it all "solo" reviews?

I have a vague recollection of a 944(2.7?) vs Excel SE test in Fast Lane, but since I'm getting on a bit now I may in fact be talking pish. [8|]

LOL I just ordered it too (well yesterday), amazon were cheapest and say 3-5weeks lolsssss

I've got the Brian Long one already for xmas, very comprehensive of full 944 range, but i like the idea of this other one including articles from magazines of the time.

I've got that one and there are some group tests with: Esprit Turbo, Maserati Biturbo, 300ZX, RX7, 3.2 Carrera, Gta Turbo to name but a few. I also have Porsche 924 944 968 by Unique ISBN i 84155 3654 which definitley does have a group test with the Excel among others. Both these books are normally stocked by club shop if you can't find them

There are some good articles with the 911 Turbo and Ferrari 328-GTS half way down the left side of this page too:
