Hi,
has anyone got MAF fitted to their car ? I have a MAF ARC & ARM setup that is not yet fitted after speaking with Andrew Sweetham last week I'm not sure whether to go ahead with the install & get new chips or sell my equipment & go for MAP.
Speak to Fen about it.
Ultimately it must be slightly more restrictive than MAP because it still has a mesh screen but I believe it's an easier meter to set up and if you plot a line with the 'barn door' at one end and the MAP at the other then the MAF must sit pretty close to the MAP end.
On my car it made an absolutely incredible difference with boost coming in smoother and lower down and it makes a fantastic noise.
Bottom line is that today I would buy MAP (is MAF still available new?) but since I have MAF I will continue to use it because it isn't worth the cost of going MAP. I have on my list of things to do to the car that I want to fit a Link2 management system and that includes MAP, but until/if I go that far I'll run my MAF and won't feel inadequate among the MAPers.

Quite Informative
More from Danno (guru Racing) about he link AFM
A BMW with comparison of AFM and MAF
More MAF info
More MAF here
The general consensus is that MAP is superior to MAF.

Thanks very much for the info, think I'm going to stick with what I have already bought for now as I can't realy streatch to a MAP set up just now.
Do you still have the chips your MAF came with, I didn't get any with my e-bay purchase, do you want to sell them?
Who did your custom chips & how much?
Thanks

There is no Mesh restriction in the SS JPipe. I have a turbonetics 60:1 HIFI Turbo Compressor with a #8 hotside.
I don't totally agree with Andrew on the MAF v MAP argument. You usually find a lot of difficulty setting a MAP system up to work on boost over 17lb however under that there is more flexibility than MAF. I run a MAP sensor to measure manifold pressure as I going to fit water injection soon to avoid detonation at high boost and high revs.
But in responce you pays ya money and takes your choice.
Personally I would be wary of the Guru kits as Danno seems to be about to implode (check out Rennlist) there are more people with unsatisfied orders that Enron, he is also ignoring all atempts to be contacted. Tread carefully guys!
Cheers
Tom
