Anyone got one of these...

I had the Porschshop one and wasn't too impressed. Didn't exactly shorten the shift by much. It did have a more direct feel without the rubber mounting, but in conjunction with that also had a damn annoying buzzing rattle at certain revs. It was OK, did feel slightly better to use, but not ÂŁ100 worth of 'better'.

Plus you'll need to modify it (i.e. shorten the top-half) to get the shorter throw. This can be quite simply a hacksaw job, but I couldn't find any after-market gearknobs with a bore as large as the shaft, hence whilst shortening the lever I turned down the first inch to a smaller diameter. Hope you've got a lathe in the shed - if you want short-shifting it's not quite a simple bolt in replacement []

Does a shorter shift result in less leverage?

Less leverage might make it more difficult to select when cold!

mine is stiff when cold.........[:D]OK I wont go there

No problem with the Auto[;)]

Ooops, didn't spot that is wasn't a short shift leverl. They do result in less leverage. All you are doing is changing the throw of the lever, nothing more clever than that. I've heard pretty good reports about short shift levers, although I want to retain the standard gear knob.

I've tried one of Jon Mitchells track short shifters in a customers car and it had a lovely rifle bolt action [8D] with what felt like millimetres between each gear slot

I'm having one of the road versions in my Turbo which is a bit tamer

I have also felt one and it is by far the nicest 944 one I have tried. Generally I dont like them though and replaced mine with standard parts which was also a big improvement in quality.

Dave, where did you get your shortshift kit from?? The EMC boys were mighty impressed with it.

My 944 feels like a one-armed-bandit after driving the MX5, so I have to get my quickshift fitted soon.

The one ive got fitted to the S2 is like the one here,,

It fits onto the gearbox end of the selector shaft. So if your having the box out, its a good time to get one fitted .as i did...[:D]
I got it off US e-bay quite some time ago...Its not the first time somebodys comented on how nice it is....[;)][:D][:D][:D]
