anyone had a puncture

Had a punncture at 1500 miles approx in my 997S.

The "white gunk" worked so well that the local tyre people(well trusted) could not find a problem! (after hosing it down and putting it on and off the rim). Still I ordered a new tyre, would you really trust the old one? but availability of pirelli N1 is limited apparently. Have bought a temp' non N1 pirelli that looks exactly the same as the one on the opposite rear axle, tread and markings etc. Waiting for new one. When it arrives I will now have one spare tyre covered in white goo!, one that does not have an "n " rating but looks the same and my wallet over £450 in the red. Am I stupid or is this happening to others as well?.

Not yet, but as I took out the tyre insurance on my Carrera S (£100 per year for all tyres - 3mm wear limit) it does pose an interesting question, would the insurance cover the replacement even though no fault could be found, or would they insist that you drive around until it "Let go"?????

Had to have a Michelin Pilot Sport 235/35/ZR/ 19 replaced today pickup two nails at weekend after 4000 miles ouch !!!

Same as Mike - I've got the tyre insurance, but that would be absolutely no use if i 'd picked up a puncture and shredded the tyre. As a matter of interest is there enough room in the front for a space saver? That said is there enough room in the passenger footwell for a 10"x19" wheel and remanants[&:]

I shredded a rear tyre in my 996 (on Christmas eve!). The space saver went on instead - no amount of white gunk would have saved that one.

The original wheel had to go in the nearside rear seat, with the passenger seat fully forward. That was the only place we could put it so it was steady and not inclined to fall over onto the gearstick.

I also am in posession of a can of the dreaded gunk as it is used in GT3s as a weight-saving measure - does anyone know what happens if the tyre shreds and you don't have a spare - how do Porsche Assist handle it? Do they carry some sort of emergency space savers in the van? I presume with 1 tyre missing the car can't be moved at all, no towing or even getting it onto the back of a low loader?

Porsche Assistance asked if I had a spare wheel when I called them.

My understanding is that if you don't, they bring a space saver wheel with them. You leave it with the tyre place & they collect it later.

I had a front tyre wall split on the 997S due to metal bar in road. Gunk no use. Porsche assist excellent. Car Was transported home an hour later (RAC subcontracted). I removed the wheel and took it to the tyre center I had a brand new Pirelli P Zero N1 next day fitted for £207.
