Anyone had passenger airbag deactivated?

I have had a good look a the handbook re: baby seat and airbag deactivation. I see that you need to have this swith and warning light retro-fitted by a OPC. When I saw picture of key swith in book I thought my car had that but when I checked it didn't. Wierd what you can imagine. Wierder that not fitted at production but anyway.

I just wondered if anyone has had this done and how much it cost? Ditto for the ISOFIX hoops on the passenger seat? If it is ridculous money prob won't bother and will use the wife's car until baby is over 9 months and can go in the back safely. Even Porsche say back is safer for all children so not sure why babies have to go in the front to start off with.

Do they do ISOFIX hoops for back seat?

We have a baby on the way and a 7-year-old (I know, Im not sure why we are starting over again either) so also wanted to see if anyone had any suitable seats for these ages they are not using any more they wanted to sell. Particularly the baby as older one almost 135cm so will not need booster seat soon, legally, but he may still be safer with one. Or any recommendations on alternative makes of seats that fit in the rear would be greatly appreciated.

I had this kit fitted on a 987, it included the Switch in the side of the dashboard on the passenget side, the light in the centre console to indicate if it was on or off and the 2 isofix hoops.

I can't find the receipt now but I think the parts came in at about 150 and it took a couple of hours to do. The bill was about 350 give or take a bit.

thanks. that sounds quite reasonable and certainly not a job i would ever try to do myself, even if I could.

I dont really like the look of the look of the centre console light from the pix in the handbook, but sure would get used to it.

I got airbag key switch fitted to mine done by OPC for circa 225 fitted but didn't have isofix. The little light by the gear lever is a subtle enough reminded as to wheather u have it switched on or off and it may actually be a requirement if u have the deactivation switch off and an adult in the front and u have forgotten u have switched it off .

Do you need to have the Isofix with the babyseat? Or is it for the bigger child seats? Makes sense about the reminder light being fitted at same time, wont stop me getting deactivation fitted.

Will put my children in the back when ever possible as I think it is safer. So if don't need isofix for baby seat (under 9 months) then prob wont get them. Can you see them on the seat when not in use or do they tuck away? Can you get them in the rear seats? I imagine not seeing how the rear seat squabs just lift out.

I had the kit fitted in my old 987. It was £350 all in (at OPC) and included key switch inside the door frame, little light by gear lever and Isofix. The OPC did not even mention the Isofix until I noticed them when I got home.
It was a tidy job and the isofix was not noticable but made a great difference when just clicking the baby / child seat in.

First of all congratulations we have a 7 month old son, what a joy. I think the isofix bit is covered so I can pass on info I have found regarding seats. From Birth to 9kgs they are in rear facing seats, at the moment we have a maxi cosi cabrio and this fits in the back with the seat belt no problems. the front seat needs to be pushed a fair way forward but my wife can get in and she is 5tf 4", it is no good for long journeys! From 9kg they can go into forward facing and this opens up things a little, there is a seat called a mamas and papas pro tec that fits in the back and I have pics at home of one fitted so will try and post later. The problem is they dont make them anymore. There is another seat called a Be Safe Izi comfort that is exactly the same seat and again I dont think they make them any more I managed (I hope if it comes) to order the last one kiddicare had last night. There is Porsches own seat that fits and apart from these I didnt come up with any others but I am sure there are some.
There is also a small pushchair called a quinny zapp that fits in the 911 2s and 4s boot but the wheels are useless on anything other than concrete. The maxi cosy cabrio also clips onto this with adapters.
Have a look at the safety advantages of keeping in rear facing for longer before you make too many plans. Type in forward facing vs rear facing on you tube and google. Unfortunatley if the research is on the money forward facing is out the window!! Hope this helps.
