Hi All
Quick qestion to all you tip owners.
When you're in manual mode, and let the engine red line, the gearbox changes up.
Does it do this smoothly for you ?

Also, when downshifting manually from 3rd to 2nd, again, does it change smoothly ?

Mine's started beconing rather jerky under the above conditions.
I've had it back to Silverstone OPC, who said they couldn't find anything wrong, but reset the adaption codes.
It was OK for about 20 mins, but has since started changing roughly again.
as this is my first Auto, i'm not sure whether this is to be expected or not.

car is a 2002 model C2, if that's important !

regards
David

From what I can recall, It didn't "bang" into gear or anything of the sort, but of all the gearchanges it was probably the sharpest change, but under the circumstances (red line) I didn't see it as a problem []
downshifting was always smooth though..

On hard acceleration you can feel the change (but its still smooth given the conditions); downshifting is generally very smooth - never had cause to curse the tip software (even on a track day!)

too late !
The gearbox exploded today, leaving me stranded in the middle of the Cotswolds...

Car is in OPC Silverstone now, looking at it first thing tomorrow ....

That's got to be embarrasing for the OPC - I wonder if they will show any willingness to assist given they said there was nothing wrong? - I won't hold my breath though!

These are the tales that warranties are made of

Sorry it happend old chap.

My Tip gearbox was replaced under warrenty when I first got the car (It was secondhand 2yrs old at the time) as it was leaking oil. Apparently they are Merc gearboxes!!

just got off the phone from the OPC - waranty will cover it, as it needs a new gearbox. totally torn up inside apparantly. over £7K to fix. gulp
