Anyone Investigated/bought a PCCM Upgrade?

Just saw this article in EVO

This suggests that one can buy an upgrade kit to get a (period looking) replacement CD/radio unit for a 986 Boxster.
It also mentions that Becker also do a similar, in period, upgrade.

I've owned my Boxster for 21 years, from new, and still love it - but I really miss being able to listen to the BBC 6 Music, which is available in our other (DAB radio) cars.

Any one tried getting a period sympathetic DAB upgrade? I know from experiences elsewhere that factory fitted units usually have far better reception than many of the add-on units one can buy.

Hi Richard,
I also saw this in Auto Express and read with interest so awaiting reports before investing c£1,400.00 for the unit.
My car being a 1998 model came with a CR22 radio/cassette with a CD changer. I have had to replaced the unit recently to maintain the 'period look' and the cassette function which works well but would like to hear any other opinions regarding the installation of the unit in an original vehicle. The new unit would certainly give additional functionality without plugging in separate units [for GPS].
Cheers
Mel
p.s I have a surplus CR22 unit, it works (CD interchange function does not work though) but the display is intermittent, works in bright sunlight or with a torch directed to the front panel. Make me an offer if interested?

Eventually purchased and installed the Porsche PCCM Double Din in my Boxster. An interesting project but happy with the outcome. (Hope the photo uploads ok).
