Anyone know this 981 GTS for sale?

Hey all, I've been lurking on this forum for a few months researching what I need to check for when buying a 981 GTS (some good advice here, thanks! - https://www.porscheclubgb...aspx?m=1084616). They're few and far between it seems, but I think there's one for sale that ticks most of my boxes (apart from those alloys! [:'(]):

I don't suppose this was previously a members car or anyone knows any history about this GTS?
Is there anything from this advert or the pictures that I should be looking closer at or questioning?

It's been up for a few months now and just changed to a different dealer (not sure why I ignored it before, probably because it was not through an OPC, but I've given in and want one before summers over!).

Fingers crossed, I'll be on here soon as an owner!!! [:)]

Seems strange it has not been snapped up as that is very low mileage for a 2014 car, ours is a 2015 and only used in the summer months and we have nearly 19,000 miles, not sure why you say it’s passed to different dealers as this seems odd.

Yep, I reserved it. Looks like the old dealer link has been taken down now.

You're right about the low mileage. I ran a check on the car (which came back all clear for serious stuff) and the service history mileage matches up with the MOT mileage history. At the November 2019 MOT it had done 13500. It looks like the current owner bought it in April 2019 and only did about 2000 miles on it in two years. So between the last 4 months of the previous owner and the first seven months of the current owner it only covered 1600 miles, then from Nov 2019 to March 2021 it only covered about 1300 miles. Saying that, this is during weird covid times, so maybe that's not so strange?

Generally on low mileage cars I get concerned if the numbers seem erratic, but these mileage number seem consistently low right? Not sure how much more digging I can do here, but I'll question it when I see it and I'll look for the usual seat / pedal wear to check they match up with a car of this mileage.

Looks as though they have a decent selection of Porsches, seems you have done your research on the GTS.

Good luck with the car, looks great.
I bought my GTS this year with only 18,000 miles on it.
its a very competent car and mine has sports cats which make the exhaust sounds very loud when you want it to

Hi All,

Thanks for the replies. We went to see the car and it all looks good. Just had the 111 point check done which has flagged a couple of points. I'll follow up with Porsche centre themselves, but wondered if these are anything to be overly concerned with...

1) Front brakes - non-Porsche approved repair carried out on OSF brake caliper outer bleed nipple
2) Engine oil around engine sump and oil filter housing. Suspect oil leaking from engine sump plug and filter. Advise oil change to be carried out replacing seals for sump plug

From a laymans perspective, the first doesn't seem that concerning. However, #2 - oil leaking is setting off alarm bells. Am I overreacting or is this something that should make me reconsider the purchase?

Cheers for any help. :)

I`d be more interested in 1) ... and any affect on the system`s integrity ?

Oil leaks are not uncommon and can be a simple fix

Ask them to sort and record both items prior to sale

Get the oil leak properly investigated, i recently saw a 997 Turbo up on the ramp purchased with an "oil leak" and it wasn't an easy fix, or for that matter an inexpensive fix, at all.

I spoke to the Porsche centre that ran the check and they said that it was a simple fix and the leak had just been caused by and overtightening of a sump screw at the last service. They mentioned that it was quite a common thing and that once rectified would not result in any long term issues. Ashgood (the dealer selling the car), had the issue fixed without hesitation.

So I'm now the happy owner of a beautiful 981 Boxster GTS (the alloys look a lot better in real life and have grown on me!) and OMG it drives like a dream!!! The sound from that exhaust system and the way the car handles is just perfect for me!

As a side note, I've gotta say that Ashgood were the most professional sellers that I've ever dealt with. Perfect from start to finish. :)
