Anyone know this car

Hi guys,
Have been out of the porsche ownership for a while and deciding whether to jump into this 993 turbo. Before I leap I wondered whether anyone on here knows the car.

The above link should take you to the car dealer which is John Holland in Sheffield. Its had 9 owners during its lifetime and appears on the face of it to be a very honest car .

Your views would be appreciated.

Thanks

Alan

Car looks nice

There a number of odd things from the information supplied and from the advert that need checking out

For a 9 owner car the mileage is oddly low.
The recent gaps in the service history, with just 3 services in the last 9 years(sounds familier), does not warrant the premium price and are concerning, hopefully there is plenty of supporting paperwork.
I would expect the car to have been serviced before every change of ownership, suggest you carefully check the owners versus the invoices and service book.
Match up the service book/invoices to the MOTs you need some chains of ownership that match up and support everything.
Check out where and when the kit and wheels were added, incase they were done after an accident or something.

Thanks Gordon,
The history seems to check out and I have spoken with the OPC centre who supplied the car and fitted the bodykit and wheels at a cost of over £12k in 1998.
Going to test drive it this week and hopefully strike a deal.
Any other pointers for things to look out for would be appreciated.

Thanks

Alan

The usual 993 stuff
- rust around front and rear windscreens, lift the rubbers in the corners, and wheels arches
- a/c should be cold check all the a/c & heater controls work
- all panel gaps are even
- check under the front carpet and all the seams are original.
- first gear shouldn't make any noises, i.e.whining means first gear shot
- check you have 4 matching lightweight wheels(no indents in spokes)
- check the sound proofing under the carpets if its badly cracked had major water ingress
- check every electrical component and stereo works
- when test driving boost should go to 0.7 and may briefly flash into 0.8, test on straight dual carriageway and do a hard brake test for abs

If you are still happy then take it to nearest Good Porsche specialist to be checked out and get at least 10% of with that service history and no.of owners

Thanks Gordon,
I have negotiaited the 10% already along with new N rated tyres all round and a new alarm and tracker system 12 months tax and MOT.
Have my magnet ready and thanks for the pointers.

Kind Regards

Alan

Have you seen the £68K one at paragon? Prices seem to be rising still, £55K sounds good if it all checks out but get a Porsche man to PPI it.

They still get up to all sorts of shenanigans, do a search on pistonheads.

Normal stuff is that the car is on SOR. So title issues, warranties, test driving(see below), cant get it inspected etc
They wont let you drive the car unless you look the part or put a deposit down.
They wont let the owner have hiscar back when they cant sell if at the over inflated price duhhhh what a surprise, they then try to take advantage of this buy purchasing at below trade price.
and trying to get your money is not easy.

Why they still carry on like this no one knows, so beware if you go there do so with your eyes wide open.

Test drove the GT bodied one this afternoon. It didnt live up to expectations I am afraid.Air con didnt work, poorly fitting rear wing and has obviously had a respray to tidy things up. Had it on a ramp and it all looked tidy enough but it didnt feel alive . The front dash rattled a lot and it just felt a bit tired and the clutch felt a bit notchy at the biting point. Hard to put my finger on it but i suppose a 9 owner car has been treated differently by each owner.
Suppose i will keep looking.Garage very obliging and I felt awfull walking away from the deal.

Plenty more out there around that mileage and money. A lot of the cars out their at the moment have been around for sale for quite a time, so don't be afraid to go fishing on the prices.

the Arena red one listed here has a similar service history for a substantial saving(sink fund). All Arena cars need to be seen in sunlight as they look stunning.

If its my Arena red 993TT you're talking about, then its still sort of for sale!

I took it off the market recently as not a lot of serious interest, now contemplating giving her some TLC, one being mentioned above, small rust bubble around front windscreen!

But still happy to consider serious offers :)
