I've just got my copy - anybody seen the 993 article ? What did you think of the mag in general ? I'm just wondering whether to take out a subscription ...

Good Eh, one to keep, only the mag itself does suffer a bit from lack of literiture!

Porsche 911 and world for me.

Well it's a lot better than gt purely porsche!!! If it carries on improving I think it'll do ok, although for me, 911 & porsche world still has the crown.

Haven't seen #2 yet, but I didn't think the first one was as bad as everyone made out. Even GTPP was better last issue (with the Cayman on the cover) so maybe everyone will up the ante. Sadly I'll probably buy them no matter (although I did resist the WHSmiths GTPP Porsche special!).

agree with you on the gtpp, i did a post about 2 -2 1/2 years ago about gtpp, a lot of hits and replys.i think that the mag lacks tecnical tips and write ups.when 911 p/w said it was going to drop the running reports i thought that was very sill as i are such a good read, not into 924s and 944, not putting them down, but with the running reports i read all of them.
i new they would be back.

for a 993 owner fan like myself issue 2 was much better...[;)]

although I would agree that the inaccuracies detracted from the rest of the mag, esp' as they claim their target audience is us ! final page article was pointless...

much better than the glossy & 996 obsessed GT PP.. although not enough to stop my 911PW sub just yet !

on another point I know of many who are having problems getting hold of it from the shops.......

otherwise a worthy addition to the car mag market... the only way is up !

Thanks for the replies guys - interesting to hear other views -

Only Maurice could describe the 993 workshop manual as fascinating ! [;)] I still have a copy of it on CD from Mario (993 titanic forum) - not sure if he still does them - jolly useful if anything goes wrong - unfortunately, being a 993, nothing ever does ! (Oh no that's gone and done it now my engine will explode) !

i think the difference is or at least the impression given off is that 911 and porsche world is by enthuiasts (think thats how you speeil it ) and the others have a much more commersial feel.

ORIGINAL: robmug

... we're actually probably the least commercial of the 3 mags, in that we are all enthusiasts who have decided to produce the Porsche mag that we would like to read;
Come on, Rob: 'least commercial'? If you're out to make money by publishing a magazine youy've got to be commercial, otherwise you risk financial suicide. You have to have a big enough audience, satisfy that audience consistently, and get as much advertsing revenue as possible. Oh, and minimise costs too. Surely that applies to T911 as much as it does to your competitors...

Is there any evidence of this less/least commercial stance? If you were to speak out clearly against iffy/bad value-for-money products, risk the wrath of advertisers and turn down advertising from firms you dissapprove of, that would be pretty non-commercial. Is that where you're coming from?

I do happen to think issue no 2 was quite good, by the way.
