Anyone up for Oulton on Sat 9th Dec?

I've decided to definitely do the MVS track day at Oulton Park International circuit on Saturday 9th Dec. It's £120 for a 105dB weekend open pit lane day on the full circuit which is good value already, but if he gets reasonable interest Stuart from the 968 register may try to get a little discount.

Any other Southerners (or locals of course) up for a last pre-Chrimbo thrash at what I believe is one of the best tracks in the country?

That's a really good price for Oulton - don't know if my car will be ready though

I'm probably doing a Donington Trakzone day over Christmas - 29th Dec I think

Not sure yet, have just invested some money in 100cc kart equipment (we now have 2 running) justifying it by saying I hadn't done any trackdays this year ;) but never been to Oulton and always enjoyed it on the playstation, I guess it also depends how the baby is behaving - its due to arrive this weekend but may be late.

I was expecting an announcement email any time now from you.

I think you'd enjoy it if you did make the trip. If you do want to go I'll pass on the details of where I stayed last time as it was spot-on and £35 B&B and we could have a beer the night before maybe. The biggest problem was that it was too close to the circuit so the car wasn't warm when I got there.

If you got a flight back you could pop up to your folks to collect the car as it's not too far away, Paul. Might not be so cheap in that case but it's a great track [:D]

Roll-call on 968UK now prior to Stu trying to get discount http://www.porsche968uk.co.uk/phpbb/viewtopic.php?p=37456#37456

Congrats Tony, you've got it all to look forward to! If it's anything like our baby she practically slept constantly for the first four weeks or so before she started to become a pain in the bum. But she's worth it. I'm not used to having to get pass-outs from the other half but she's been living it up recently with all the other new mums in the area so I think she owes me a couple!!

I'm there, only I'll be drifting.....at least for the morning. If the weather is good I might to the PM trackday, I'll see how it pans out.

Hmmm - I've got some time on my hands, so....

On the other hand, the prospect of that double-apex corner at Druids on a damp/wet/frosty/greasy (delete/include as appropriate) day in December doesn't really appeal that much. But I do miss Cascades... [:(]

Right, i've got my pass-out approved, signed, stamped and verified, but unfortunately my wife has committed us to a Christmas P-up the night before so I think I can only do a half track-day in the afternoon. I take half track days tickets are on offer?

Are many people coming?? I noticed on the Oulton Park website that the event is fully booked. Am I wasting my time turning up or will they be able to squeeze me in for a few hours in the afternoon?

I hadn't checked the website for a while, but I was waiting to see if Stuart could get a discount. If it's fully booked then I guess I won't be going after all.

Anyone else fancy Bedford on 23rd December for similar money? I'm absolutely gutted about Oulton and I want to do something else as compensation, but I'd rather not be Billy-no-mates.

I spoke to Stuart yesterday and he said he was struggling to drum up alot of interest from 968 boys. I think I might pop along ayway to take a butchers and see if I can squeeze in a few hours to replace anyone who either doesn't turn up, has a crash or a breakdown. It's only 30mins away from my dad so I can pop in there on my way home for a bit of scran!

I could see that there was a general apathy about it on the 968 forum when it came to the crunch, but I thought I'd give it the weekend to see what happened with number. Guess what I won't be doing in future...

It's far too far from me to jut take a chance on getting a space so that's it for me. Did you put your name down for the reserve list?

I've only ever driven virtual Oulton Parks. It was too far away for me, and there seems to be a lot of hard things fairly adjacent to the track. It looks nice though.

Perhaps not the best track to take on in poor weather, so you may have been better not reacquainting yourself with 911 handling on this occasion. [;)]

What also becomes evident is how grip levels change. Circuits in the summer get used by lots well prepared cars with sticky rubber (ie races). Circuits in the winter get more rain to wash the rubber off and lots more cars that leak oil (ie track days). Nett result - not as good as in the summer - it is cheaper though.
