Anyone want to swap standard exhaust for a RSR sports exhaust?

Hi fellow members,

I have a set of RSR sports exhausts fitted to my ' 95 993 (www.p-car.com/exhaust/
for details) in my opinion and many of those on the Rennlist bulletin board the best sports exhaust option available, it was a great upgrade when my 993 was my daily driver, but having just switched the 993 to a track day car and failed the noise test at my maiden event Castle Combe (102db versus a 100db limit) I need to switch back to standard. Anyone interested in a Swap - standard for RSR' s? The RSR' s are fitted at the moment so can be heard and tested in situ, I live in Glos and work in Oxford.

I could send them back to Gert in Belgium where I bought them but I would then need to pay for two lots of shipping so would rather organise a swap

(even better would be any ideas to lose 2db on Castle Combe track days but keep my RSR' s!!)

Hi John

No relation!!

Merlin at Coombe do a small silencer. I have welded an old piece of tailpipe flange to it. It' s simply a case of unbolting the tailpipe and bolting on the exhaust -shouldn' t take more than ten minutes!! I can usually lose 2dB from my Cup Car this way.

Another tip -ensure the engine is hot and depress the clutch pedal to get rid of the gearbox thrash.

Oh, or do a noisy day!! (105dB)

Melv,

Thanks for the tip, can I ask how much the secondary silencers were? Where did you get your old piece of tailpipe flange from? (I presume I could use some old tips I have in the garage?) Do you know if the OEM tips are SS? If so i suspect that I will need TIG (or MIG?) welding?

I also presume that Merlin are actually based at the track

You have a great surname, maybe we should start a Spear register?

TIA

Hi John,

I have Robin' s RSR' s and couldn' t bear to be without them. There is an enthusiastic following (for RSR' s) over on the Titanic 993 mailist, join here.... http://tristar.orbitzero.co.uk/mailman/listinfo/porsche993

I' m sure if you posted the same request by email over there you' d get trampled in the rush [:D]

If you like I can post the request on your behalf?

Cheers
