AON Policy Changes

All,
Something to note - I recently renewed my AON policy and was told it was identical to last year's cover.....

The AON policy previously covered x5 track days per year then extra events at approx £20 per event, coverage was to the value of the car with a 10% excess - great policy imho.

Following their merger/takeovoer of Footman James the policy is now a 30% excess with a max payout of £17,500 (max claim size = £25,000).

I only found this out by requesting that they write to confirm my track day cover for an event this week. If you have an AON policy you need to be aware of this.......needless to say I am planning on taking my business elsewhere.

Cheers,
Kevin.

Kevin -my policy with AON (Collectors Car Scheme RSA) due 29/05 and it specifically states in 'Track Day Extension': '...excess of £1500 or 10% of the vehicle value.....insurers indemnity is restricted to a maximum of £100,000....'

Are we talking the same Policy Type???

Hi Kevin

My renewal with Peart has just come in at £402. I've been with them for years and have never claimed which may be relevant? The cover includes 3000 miles pa, 5 trackdays cover with 10% excess, value £40k, a few mods' clean licence. I've just been on a 'speed awareness' course to avoid 3 pts). I'll be ringing them in the morning to notify them of tomorrow's trackday at Donington and will investigate any changes from 08 policy. Will let you know tomorrow, mate.
Unfortunately I'll soon be 50.

Ian

Thanks for the heads up Kevin, I will call them in the morning. I thought it was very good cover for £202 per annum with 3,000miles limited but took it specifically because I want to do a few track days this year.

Mel,
Call them, your policy as descrbied was the policy I was on until 30th April, on my renewal I was converted to a Footman James policy which is as described in my initial post.

I am really cheesed off with them as the only reason I fond out was that i asked them to comfirm the level of track cover in writing, up to that point they were saying it was the same as the AON policy!!!!

Please let me know if you get a different story as to date I have been very happy with AON.
Beware,
Kevin.
