Apple CarPlay

If you take the iPhone out of the battery case and plug into the iPhone directly, does that work?

Bluetooth.....

I didn’t know that was possible to give full CarPlay? I know that will work for phone functionality etc as my Android is attached that way....

I havent tried that....I know that may sound a bit lame, but the case seems very well secured and not having put it on, not sure how it comes off! Seen a micro usb to female lightning adapter....if it’s just sensing a lightning chip on the cable, it might work....?

Basics, assuming you have a 718 series, and a recent iPhone model and IoS you use a cable to connect the iPhone to the centre console USB port per the instructions in the manual.

You can connect wirelessly but that requires a third-party device which was the subject of another thread, possibly in the 991 Section.

Why connect iPhone directly outside the case? I was just suggesting options in the absence of info, I am not saying the case is the problem but if you can't connect per the car's manual using the case's port, eliminate it to see if that made a difference.

Also, there might be a delay before it connects for the first time.

Thank you appreciate the suggestions - realised I have an iPad that I’m typing on now! Will try that will also google the case provider to see how it can be removed

quick question and perhaps I’m being lazy......
Does anyone know if CarPlay only works with a lightening cable?
I‘m Normally android but just got an iPhone though work, it it has a battery extender case on it that is micro usb powered. I had plugged it into the usb, but didn’t get any messages on PCM so assume it doesn’t work....seems a shame to take the case off.....etc but wondered if I was doing something wrong...?

......so, iPad with lightning did work. Tried to remove phone which I discovered is an iPhone 8.....couldn’t the phone out - it’s split 80:20, can get the 20 off but not the 80!

plugged it via micro usb and nothing, but then a message on the phone about unlocking to access features - unlocked and CarPlay displayed on PCM - thanks for putting up with my stupidity!

Not having a good lockdown day!

Glad you worked it out. Now you just have to cope with Porsche's non-integration of Apple CarPlay and PCM.

I have similar problem connected iphone 6s to usb in glove box and under arm rest and i think my issue is that Apple play is not a standarc feature but an option on 718 2017 model. I can connect as ipod but not car play comes on the screen. I bought an old iphone as i thought it was standard. Will now look to see if a company will retro fit something for Android.
