I'm currently looking at changing my 1999 3.4 C4 for a facelift 3.6 C4S. One independent dealer has told me he is reluctant to take 3.4's in part exchange because they're hanging around on his forecourt unlike 3.6's which are selling easily. In fact he said 3.4's are 'bad news'. Is this just sales talk to reduce my p/x value expectations or is it reality?

Are 3.4's bad news?

Was it RSJ in Slough? I believe he had a bad experience with a 3.4 he sold a while ago, but from what I read he got the thin end of the wedge. I wish I could remember where I read it - Pistonheads perhaps?

He got taken to court for an engine replacement and lost....badly....not really his fault tho. He has a good reputation and is usually very competitive on prices.

Yes, it was on PH - about 10 to 20 pages of it I seem to remember.
