Hi All,

I putting some cup mirrors on my car but need a new OS mirror glass.

I can get one from Porsche for £55 so I wondered if anyone had experience of the ones sold on Ebay which are under £20?

Unless someone has a 2nd hand glass knocking about.....

I've no direct experience of the glasses but my experience of non-genuine Porsche parts on ebay is that they are a waste of money.

You are probably right Steve but a mirror is a mirror so may be worth a punt...

I did do a bit of research but the only thing I found was that people were recommending getting the curved glass as the flat do give big blind spots, problem is that they are £79 + VAT which is crazy!

Not Porsche specific but I had to replace the glass on my Audi A4 and it was £180 from Audi or £20 from an ebay supplier. Works fine but there is some distortion which bothered me at first but for that sort of difference, hard to justify. Definiotely not the same as OEM in many respects but gets the job done on the cheap.

If the difference was more modest (as in your case), I would go for OEM.

Hope that helps.

I found this with the cup mirrors on my old 944, the flat glass was pretty awful. I changed back to the square mirrors as they sold for a silly price, but if I'd kept them curved glass would have been essential I think.

After trying the car out with the flat glass mirrors I do concur that the blind spots are pretty bad so I'm going to fork out the extra for the curved glass...

I've heard the arguments for blind spot mirrors & I don't doubt they work, but they end up just confusing me.

I tend to have a little look to confirm for myself anyway.
