Just lately many forums not just our own 997 seem to have a common thread of disatisfaction with the service we are getting from our P cars and dealer support. Perhaps we are tightening our belts and expect a little bit more service for the money we spend with the Porsche GB dealer network and the warranty support!
I was interested to read a new thread questioning the content of the independant RAC check on Porsche assured cars. My own Turbo needed a repeat visit to the supplying opc to rectify a turbo issue (previous thread on turbo recall covers this). I almost went into flying teddy mode when the opc couldn't supply a Porsche loaner but recognised that the issue came under the Porsche Assured Warranty contract as my car needed to be recovered to the dealership. This meant I could have an Enterprise BMW or Merc hire car (which I didn't take up), by the way Porsche or should I say RAC Assured apologised for not being able to supply a Porsche loaner and I'm sure BMW and Mercedes love Porsche paying for extended test drives to potential customers.
Anyway to the point, the contracted recovery company (not RAC) really looked after my car when loading, nice covers on the wheels so that the straps didn't mark the alloys. I felt good enough about the recovery that when the dealership offered to deliver my turbo back to me I chose for Porsche Assured to bring it back on a recovery truck rather than someone from the opc having fun with my motor the 50 miles cross country to my home (plus the roads are fairly potholed at the moment so I didn't want the front end stone chipped). I wasn't at home when the car was delivered but my Wife couldn't check the car over due to failing light and heavy road film (covered in sandy mud across the front end but funnily not on any of the covered wheels) once home on went the flood lights and despair, through the mud the entire width of the front plastic lip spoiler looked like someone had applied a giant rasp file across the leading edge checking the delivery note an over exagerated wavy line had been drawn on the front of the car picture. I took photos and got on to Porsche assured (RAC) the next morning they have passed it up to Porsche Assured (Porsche) for investigation. A call today from PA(P) said the delivery docket showed front end damage, I said fine but the collection paperwork only showed slight damaged to one corner of the lip spoiler so between collection and delivery someone had not been careful with the front end of my car. PA(P) said they will contact the collection contractor and dealership to continue the investigation. Morale of the story if you have to be recovered and have a camera with you take photos of vulnerable areas of your car before collection and check condition of same areas on getting your car back. Fortunately fearing my turbo alloys I took photos of the wheels which included some of the un marked lip spoiler just before the recovery truck arrived. I now have before and after shots to support my damage claim but still fear if everyone says they didn't scrape the front end it will be me fronting the bill for a replacement lip spoiler. Trouble with that scenario is that I will probably boycott the opc whether they had anything to do with it or not and eventually come to the realisation that despite all the money I spend with Porsche overall I get the same level of service as one of the mass market car suppliers so may move to one of them for my next set of wheels. Would welcome any of your experiences with Porsche Assured and does anyone know how much the lip spoiler costs for a turbo.
They do say always end on a high - Well done to Leics the turbos are fixed and barking, roll on some good spring drives.
