Are wipers meant to be that bad?

My passenger side blade leaves an annoying streak of water on the down/final stroke.
I changed the blades (Bosch) thinking that would cure it, but alas - Smear City.
Is it just me, or is there a type of blade that does the trick?

I'd give them a go but they don't do a 15"[:'(]
(I am a PCGB member, by the way. My signature is just stuffed. Got bored trying to fix it)

My first drive of my car was in the rain (dealer had put new blades on), I was not impressed by the wipers and pleased to see they had 3 speeds! I put it down to being a 10 year old design of wipers.

But a few days ago I drove another P reg (but ordinary) car in the rain and Toyota's wipers seem to be able to clean the screen[8|].

The 993's wipers just don't seem to fit the screen that well. Maybe the springs in the arms are worn out.

In the past I have found smears have been caused by shampoo/wax residue on the windscreen. It's sometimes worth trying to get your windscreen really clean (and never let anyone put wax or any other cleaning products near your windscreen).

Guys
I switched my wipers to park on the nearside, because I wanted a clear view of that glorious front end. Bonus was a perfect wipe pattern. But you should always use a proper windscreen cleaner after you have washed and dried the car.

I think keeping the blades themselves clean also helps

If you clean them when you wash the car, you normally get loads of grease off

drive quicker and the water just runs off the screen

and if you think 993 wipers are bad, have you tried the earlier models which are, IMHO, bloody useless.

Wiper blades for a 911 were one of the only things I do buy from the OPC.

Turn out to be just as cheap as a motor factor and it was a good tip from someone.

They are a slightly different shape than off the peg Bosch items, 944 included.

Same for the Boxster, just replaced both of them.

John,
How did you make this switch? Easy?, or do you need to completely replace the mechanism?
