Arena Red

I know it's personal preference, but what is the current consensus on Arena Red? Although I'm looking for a car to keep long-term I still can't help thinking how it might affect it's appeal compared to a black, blue or silver one. I know it was the launch colour for the 993tt and it's the colour of the car in the T911 feature this issue (not sure about that interior though [:-]). Interestingly I noted on another post the modern equivalent - Carmon Red - has been dropped.
Alan.

Always considered Arena Red as a classy colour. To hell with resale values, get the car you want otherwise there is that nagging little doubt in the back of your mind.

Cheers,

Cheers Fred. I like it, more importantly the Financial Controller, she likes it too. Maurice, were there many/any riviera blue 993tt's made? I remember seeing an n/a car Brands festival 2 years ago in the concours, lovely.
Alan.

One of the best colours IMHO, but then I am biased. I used to have a limted edition colour on another 993 which was turquiose blue, which may explain why I hate all the greys and silver cars that abound[:'(]

Omigod not the colour debate again[&:]- everyone to their own - if you like it, get it! Yes the Arena Red is beautiful and so is the blue car shown here (I thought this was Riviera Blue, though?). Whatever it is, it looks fantastic too - a great non metallic[;)]. Obviously it's worth considering the colour for so-called residuals in the future, but - sod it - in the end it's you who's choosing the car (IMO the only exception might be Thunderbirds Pink, m'lady)!

When it is by itself it does look like riveria blue, but there is more blue in the turq blue. Riveria blue below.

Its all a matter of choice - if your not sure or have been wanting another colour dont buy this one. Colour shape and model are something
the motorist never had much choice over many years ago, model T - lets face it its only like fahion - everything comes round full circle - now where did I put my flared trousers!.

John

P.S. Arena red when polished correctly gives a great colour depth for concours.

Yep, in fact, I think I like the "Ëśturq.' blue better, when seen like that - an even richer colour[:)].

P.S... as John says, when you see a nicely prepared Arena Red car, it is fantastic - has a velvet-like depth to it.

P.P.S. Mine's Turquoise metallic, which is much different (greener) than the flat blue, which I love, of course[;)]!

I have Arena Red metallic. I agree, this is a matter of personal choice, but when I see my car among others (which are mostly black, dark blue and silver)[;)], I know I made no mistake!

I also agree with the statment that you must get the car and colour that you like, I spent 5 months looking for the right car and the right colour... Life is too short to make compromises (we make them a lot in other instances anyway...)

Arena red any day I bought mine 993 turbo2 years ago Its just a .rich colour it goes super with black interior

Everyone to their own. Colour is a very personal thing.

I'm not into silver and dark blues at all but then for some balance to this thread would have to say arena red is ruddy awful also. It looks ok freshly polished and in the sun....every other time its dreadful. IMHO thats all. Certainly has a more limited resale market.

But ignore everyone else and get what you want anyway....you only live once.

Thanks everyone - and Jason for the balance - I'm still undecided, but I do like Zenith more and more. With a used car beggars can't be choosers I guess. Every dealer I spoke to though seemed think Arena was the kiss of death...
Alan

I think condition more important than colour and in my view at least, most colours look good on the 993.

I personally looked at dark blue, silver and forest green before going for the arena red. Other good colours I have seen recently - in pictures at least - are the riviera (?) blue, pale yellow or even the white on a TT. I am not such a fan of the blue or black, but it is all perosnal taste.

all the best

Until he's got one to flog....

But that said (like others here) everyone told me: forget colour unless you happen to find two good cars you are happy to buy, then you might choose on colour.

I was particularly (and probably wrongly) obsessed by getting a black car, but after 18 months gave up and started looking at any colours. Next day a black/black one popped up for sale and it all checked out.[:)]

Well said Mark, the dealers will sell you any colour car they have in stock or is it the fact that maybe 'Arena Red' 993's are rare and hence the dealers don't like them because they can't get hold of them!!!

From one very satified Arena Red black leather interior 993 C4S owner - simply the best!!

Cheers,

Graham

Completely agree with Graham...
Arena Red are very seldom on sale and... if they are... they are gone in few days provided the car itself is in the right condition...

Ok I agree not many come to market compared to blue and silver (maybe thats because there are far fewer of them in % terms) but I disagree they go in a few days....they can hang around for ever...sorry but its true...some may go quick but lots also don't

I must be one of the few to disagree on the importance of colour when making the decision to buy or not - beside the shape it is the most obvious element of a car...

I wanted a blue car and fortunately for me I found one in a reasonable amount of time (if anything it was a bit too soon); if I had been looking for over 6-12 months would I have reviewed my desire to only look at blue cars? To be honest I don't know, but I don't think that the mainstream 993 models are yet rare enough to justify not opting for ones preferred colour (in broad terms).

Mine is a garage queen (and I spend alot of time in the garage) perhaps the colour is more important to me than others because the car is a lifesize ornament during the 'salty' months[8D]

As for arena red I think it is a nice colour, my other half thinks it is a great colour having seen another members 993 in arena red (despite that car not being cleaned as much as it deserves - you know who you are [;)]).
