Arley Hall - Region 5 Main Event - please read!

Dear all,

Please find details below about a new and very special event which is being planned for 26th September this year at Arley Hall.

This will undoubtedly be a great event - I know that a huge amount of time & effort has been invested on this, so please come along. There will be loads of Porsche-related things of interest, but also lots of non-Porsche attractions - anyone ever tried virtual clay pigeon shooting for a start?!

Here's the advert:

NORTH WEST REGION R5

The North West Region of the Porsche Club GB (PCGB) is this year holding a new Regional Event at Arley Hall, the home of Viscount and Lady Ashbrook. Situated approximately midway between Knutsford and Warrington, Arley Hall - Arley, Nr Northwich, Cheshire CW9 6NA - is approximately 5 miles in each case from Jcn 19 of the M6 and Jcn 9 of the M56 (M6 Jcn 20), and both routes are clearly signposted.

Combining traditional car festival features - including a "60 years of Porsches" display and car and biker "Guest Club" displays by the Morgan Sports Car Club and Harley Davidson Riders Club of Great Britain respectively, Concours competition and specialist trade stands - with a range of attractions with wider appeal, "Porsches at Arley Hall" aims to provide an exciting day out for both car enthusiasts and other members of their families. Family attractions will include jewellery, country clothing, organic food products, a bookstall, laser clay pigeon shooting, racecar simulators, and a mammoth Scalextric circuit, and there will be a "Help for Heroes" stand, with a climbing wall and assault course, manned by soldiers of the 1st Battalion Mercian Regiment ("The Cheshires"). Other stall holders are welcome, but we wish to avoid duplication.

The parkland below the ornate Jacobean-style Hall provides the ideal setting for the event, and is at the same time conveniently close to the Tudor Barn restaurant, gift shop, award-winning gardens and plant nursery. The event is open from 11.00am to 5.00 pm (gates open at 10.30am) and participants will have direct, hard-surfaced access, separate from that used by other Hall visitors. Entry charges are adults £8.00 and children 5 to 15 £2.00 (under 5s free), inclusive of complimentary tea/coffee/soft drinks and free entry (adults ordinarily £6.00) to the Hall gardens. The Concours is restricted to PCGB members (temporary, day membership available at a modest charge) and there is no additional charge for entering.

Members of neighbouring PCGB Regions, The Independent Porsche Enthusiasts Club (TIPEC) and the aforementioned "Guest Clubs" have been invited to attend, and all Porsche owners and other Hall visitors will be welcome.

I live about 3 miles from arley hall. Is there going to be a club parking / display area for any club members attending?

Simon

Hi Simon,

Yes there will be a special parking area for club members. This will be a great event - hope to see you there.

Dear Sir AS a long term Porsche owner and avid reader of Porsche post, I am intending to attend the forthcoming Arley Hall event I live in Antrobus c. 1.5 Miles from Arley Hall Why am I telling you this ? You may have members/exhibitors needing an overnight stay and/or secure parking the previous night I have a 6 bedroom house with some spare rooms and am willing to do a B&B service on the preceeding night if needed Perhaps more importantly, I have secure parking for 5 cars and on-drive parking for several others. Any directions available for the separate access?

I assume we pay on the way in or do we have to pre book?

Andrew W.

Hi Andrew,

Yes - pay on the way in. Don't worry about the separate access. Porsche owners will be directed off to the right and round the side of the site to your own special parking area [:D]

Looks might be chilly this weekend. Well who cares...I'm sure it'll still be loads of fun [8D]

Just got back from Arley Hall - really good turn out. Thanks to Barry and all the guys involved for all their work in putting together a great Northern gathering - even the sun shone!
Nice compact venue with good catering and access - well done!

Yes - really good venue and an excellent turn out - made it worthwhile travelling across from nr. Barnsley.

Look forward to helping on gate again next year.

Well done to all involved.

Always a risk with a new event but a perfect venue, great weather and a fantastic turnout helped make a superb day out.
Thanks to Barry, Kerri and all for the hard work.
The silverware on the 3.2's first outing was the icing on the cake !

Another Ditto! Barry, Kerry and all the helpers......you really put on a great day. Fantastic turnout from owners, PC Wilmslow and the North West independent Porsche specialists. Not forgetting the 'non Porsche' stands that provided an extra dimension to the day....if anyone didn't buy any of the pies from the 'happy beef farm'....I can say that after having them for dinner, you missed out [:)].

Arley was a superb venue....here's a flavour of the day:

[FONT=arial"]Really enjoyed this event; beautiful venue, great range of cars with some very rare ones - loved that 1950 Pre A coupe. Good to see the level of trade support as well. Thanks to the organising team. Look forward to next year.

I dont normally pass comment on these events, but well done to the organisers of this one, brilliant location I got lots of brownie points as the other half had something to look at (house & gardens) whilst I properly indulged my self in Porsche heaven [:)]

10 out of 10

I have to agree with all the above, a great day out and sunny to boot, if a little cold.....BBRRRRR!!!!

Well done to Barry and team I look forward to helping out next year. After chatting to Barry's wife it was a shame that Morgan or Harley couldn't make it, but nice to see a couple of good Astons on display.

I brought my brother in law as well who is heavily involved in the North West region of the MX5 owners club and would be interested in being invited next year.

Again well done, me and the family had a great day out.

Thanks
