Armrest covers

My 944S has a simple flat black tray on the transmission tunnel yet some seem to have cassette boxes, broken or otherwise. My handbook shows a pic of exactly what I have so I'm sure there isn't anything missing, so is it just an option difference, a model difference or what?
Cheers
David

Its easy enough to change over if you want, a casette tray lid can be got from any breaker & the hinge is available from about £10 brand new.

I've just swapped my cassette box over to a tray as I think it looks better and what use is a cassette box anyway.

If you need to use the arm rest then your not driving fast enough[;)]

Graeme - do you know where I can get hold of a cassette hinge for 'around £10 brand new'? Cheapest I've found to date is £17.

Just got one from my local OPC for about £10, can't remember what exact list price was (I had a few other bits and bobs at the same time), but I got a little discount for being a member here.

Paul, call Adrian Oxley at Exeter OPC on 01392 822800 and tell him you're from the forum. He'll do you one for £8.odds plus VAT.[FONT=verdana, geneva"] [FONT=verdana, geneva"]Chris, I'm surprised at you removing the lid. You do know the cassette dividers come out and leave a covered tray of about 1 3/4" deep that you can use to keep things out of the wind inside a cab?[FONT=verdana, geneva"]

Cheers Fen, will do. Used Adrian the other week for a replacement brake air deflector (£6!) and forgot to ask about the hinge - Arse []

Its purely for cosmetic reasons. I was nosing through the window of a 968 outside Jon Mitchells place and I thought that without the armrest it looked better. Having fitted mine I'm glad I did.

Also, think about the increase in performance with all that extra weight removed.[:D][:D]

Yes I have both electric windows and power steering (with a very pricey new non-leaking rack!!).
I feel I must point out one small item, someone has moved your steering wheel whilst you weren't looking [;)].
Maybe the differences are country models?
