Arnworx boost pressure tester

Has anyone used the Arnworx boost pressure tester?

I've borrowed one from Andrew Sweetenham at Promax

to see if I have any boost leaks anywhere. I don't think I have and I make
a full 18psi with no problems, but at the Weltmeister
Dyno Day the AFR graph showed me to be pretty rich, so I've
been checking things before going back on Saturday for
the 993 dyno day :).

I have connected the Arnworx to the intercooler as
pictured and used a spare tyre, an air compressor and
a LARGE stirrup pump to pressurise the system. However
it doesn't seem to pressurise at all. I can even pull
the pipe off the banjo bolt while pumping and no air comes
out. What am I doing wrong?

I don't think I have a leak so the next thing is to
get some updated chips for 18psi and re-test on Saturday

I was going to say that I assume you also need to plug your exhaust as, if any of the exhaust valves are open, you will just loose pressure straight out at the back. It then occured to me that if the exhaust valve was open the inlet valve should be shut so you wouldn't. But then, I don't know if there is any overlap on the valves, so you still might.

It was user error [&:]

With the pressure tester in the other side of the intercooler I was able to pressurise the intake to about 20psi with my footpump and I did find one tiny tiny leak coming out of the plastic joint in the casing of the Throttle Position Sensor (TPS). Look at the bubbles in this pic.

The question is now 'Is the TPS supposed to be air tight or is it a seal in the throttle body that is letting air through?'

I am thinking the latter, and I know there are throttle rebuild kits but that is above my spanner threshold [:D]

There are posts on Rennlist about sealing the throttle spindle. You're absolutely right that it should seal regardless of the TPS - in fact it blows the TPS casing apart if it leaks badly enough. Running a non-standard TPS (from the "spare" 306 GTI engine in the corner of my garage [&:]) I needed to check this out myself.
