Hi,

Does anyone have the definitive answer as to why the 993 wing mirrors are not fitted in the same position on the passenger and drivers side?

Pete,

I would guess for exactly the same reason as on the 964 - the window frames get in the way if they were mounted symetrically. That's why they are reversed on the LHD cars too.

Regards

Dave

Hi - thanks - I did not think there was anything sinister in it - I was hoping that is was a more engineering led solution - something aerodynamic maybe rather than the fact they would not work if they were mounted symetrically [:)]

I could not remember if they were mounted asymetrically on my previous 3.2 - the mirrors are certainly very effective, I resisted putting them onto the 32. as I thought the flag mirrors would have a larger view to the rear, but I find the cup mirrors excellent, especially the view of the rear arches [:)]

... especially the view of the rear arches.

Better to see road and other road users in your mirrors, shurely???!!!
