At last I have take the big step in life and bought myself a 944S on a 88 plate, it comes with a reasonable service history but this does run a bit scanty after 77,000 and is now on a 113,000. From what I can see it runs well but req a good service. So my first question is who is the cheapest supplier of Porsche service paraphernalia, what is the requirements with the cam belt? It defiantly suffers form a lazzzzy starter but does fire after a few turns, is this a common problem and can it be rectified easily, also where can I get a heater resistor?[FONT=verdana, geneva"]Other than that it only needs a good clean ready for the winter break and in the spring I will treat myself to a set of alloys (probably none Porsche), where what do you recommend?[FONT=verdana, geneva"] [FONT=verdana, geneva"]Thanks![FONT=verdana, geneva"]

For excellent service, indepth 944 knowledge and competitive prices call Bert at www.berlyn-services.co.uk he is not always the cheapest but will be pretty close and you will always get the right parts, for the right model first time. Others cannot always match this [:-] He's in your neck of the woods in North Wales and is the clubs technical representative for the 944

The cam and balance belt should really be changed every 3 years or 36k miles, whichever comes first and as yours is a 16valve engine it should also have the camchain and tensioner inside the head changed every 50k miles and at least inspected when the belts are done.

S2's normally suffer from a slow starter because they have such big pistons for a four pot, but the 2.5 S is not known for this. Test your battery, clean up (or replace) all the earth cables you can find and if this does not improve then it's time to look at a recon or new starter motor itself. Obviously the cold at this time of year is making it worse just now.

Call www.porsch-apart.co.uk for a heater resistor. I am presuming you have the problem whereby your fan only runs on position 4. A new resistor will bring 1,2 and 3 back to life [:D]

Congrats on the purchase and post pictures as soon as you can - welcome on board [:)]
