At what point does service history become less important?

Personally, I would say that once you are past the 5-6 year mark, it won't make any significant difference to the value or saleability if you use a known Porsche specialist for servicing instead of a PC. The majority of buyers will recognise the indies do as good a job as PCs and won't be put off by it. However, if you are thinking of DIY servicing, I wouldn't recommend it, as it will definately put people off. I would suggest an indy to do the main servicing to get the stamp, and DIY the other jobs, like brakes and minor repairs, yourself. Just my 2p's worth.

...Lwhen you have the knowledge to see the car you’re buying or the person you’re buying from is genuine. Hard to define in detail. But then you’re presumably talking about what I would class as ‘newer’ cars...and
but there were aspects that I have needed to address.
...you’re always going to have some of these.

Just pondering this today after my low temperature thermostat adventure.

Once you are not buying into the Porsche warranty (or independant warranty) then is there a point where the service stamps become less important?. For me, I can spot an enthusiasts car when I see one - my Cayman had great official service history but there were aspects that I have needed to address.

Any thoughts?

Thanks Richard - kind of is my view. In an ideal world I would like to do the stuff outside of the service schedule and get my indy to do the general service stuff to keep the stamps in th ebook. Many thanks
