Audi TT to Carrera 4

Well, after 4 years of Audi TT's and related forums Ive finally made the ultimate step up.

Porsche Guildford took my 260BHP TT Coupe away and handed me the keys to to a 3 year old 996 Carrera 4 a couple of weeks ago.

I mean.....I didn't even mean to buy a 911. I just walked in to the dealership and started drooling. It was so bad, I couldn't contain myself. I sat in this shiny C4 and that was it. The sales guy Tim was excellent. He opened the doors of the showroom, handed me the keys and I was off. Down the A3 towards THE HOGS BACK Dual Carriageway!!!! Drop it to 3rd Tim said, I thought the TT was the best all round car but Jeeeeeeesus, the 911 makes the TT look and feel like a Skoda. My brains were in the back window.

When I returned to Guildford my heart was beating at a right rate.

I did not even have to think about the cost, rate, deposit, ballon payment etc. I just signed.
I really didn't care. I was in heaven.

Now Im a PCGB member and will be on the cruise to Le Mans 24 heures.
As a Newbie I'm looking forward to talking with y'all.[:)]

Porsche 'There's no looking back'!!

Hi Adrian,

Yes I'm often finding an excuse to nip out of the office to view my 911. "Oh damn it Ive left my pen on my seat, won't be a minute" etc. I park it at the far end of the car park so everyone can see it from the upper floors, especially the canteen.

Even worse, don't you find yourself driving down High Streets pretending to be lost, and then seeing your reflection in the windows!![:D] Saddo me[:'(]

I thought i was posing in a TT, but the 911 is a different planet.

Some of those B roads are fantastic for cruising. I just don't want to work anymore, just drive. Ive done 3500 miles in 3 weeks!!!!

[:D] Welcome ! I almost bought a TT but for several reasons bought a 325ci instead, nice car but like you I've moved on and up to a Porsche (996 C4). I could not believe how much better the porsche feels. I've just completed my first track day today and I appreciate my car even more.

Enjoy [:D] your Porsche,

Will

Weclcome to the fold - although I've had my old 924 CGT for about nine years I always hankered after a 911 and when I decided to reward myself with a graduation present, for gaining my MA, I toyed with the idea of a Boxter - my wife was OK with the idea but insisted that if it were to be another Porsche, then the 924CGT had to go!! - I couldn't bear to get rid of it - It has become a part of me so asked her what "sports car" she would like - a TT Roadster was her immediate reply and thus I did a deal - "If I get a TT then when its due for replacement I'll get a 911 - is that OK?" I never really got a reply but within a couple of days we were at our local Audi dealer buying their black 225 TTR demonstrator! - that was just over two years ago and although it was a fun car I always felt I'd made the wrong decision - later to be justified when Reading loaned me a Boxter S. The TT suffered a major water leaking problem which they were never able to fully cure and I got so fed up with their lame excuses that in December I decided it had to go - sure it was fun but the wooden feel to the steering always detrated from what could have been a great package. So the hunt was on for a 911 - I ended up getting a 3 year old C4 which developed a major fault (documented elsewhere) that resulted in my OPC refunding my money - and I threw caution to the wind (and a load more cash) and bought a Guards Red 2003 C4 demo car from another dealer - I'm now a true convert and love every minute of my time in the car - I hope you get as much of a buzz out of it as I do?
My wife still mourns the loss of the TT but now I've got my "dream" and been able to keep the old 924CGT as well!!

Thanks guys....i've just been on the TT Forum which i used to frequent for years, and they've only got a post on there about a TT driver raving on about beating a Boxster. And he's acting like he's won The British Grand Prix[:D] I think the Boxster driver cared more about his licence really.

So you think you have got the bug????

Just you wait till you have a pop in a GT3.... or a GT3RS....

You'll climb back in your C4, stamp the loud pedal and you will be back in your TT!!!! - Just where did that stonking accelleration suddenly disappear to???

God I wish I was a rich man.....

Yes, I remember that day as well.... it was a black C4 cab in my case. I think it was Tim who figured, IIRC, although he didn't get the order in the end as I was just passing Guildford that day.

C4S cab is now in the garage, quick peek every time I pass (now where's that screwdriver...)

I don't dare drive a GT2 RS, due to exactly your point. I will get back into my C4 and it will feel like my TT and i'll be really dissappointed.

God I wish i were a rich man too.
