August Club Night and News Update

This is a brief update to remind you that our August Monthly meeting will be on Tuesday 7th August at The Rose and Crown, Hawridge, Chesham, Buckinghamshire, HP5 2UG, 01494 758944. As usual we will start around 7.30pm but for those wanting to eat it is best to arrive earlier.

This month we are holding our summer BBQ and for those of you who have already booked your meals we look forward to seeing you.
For those of you who have not booked Mark has allowed for additional people, on a first come first served basis, and you will need to pay him on the night.
The meal choices are shown below.

July Club Night Concours Results - Unfortunately these are not formatted correctly as they were originally generated in Excel but you should be able to work out the scores and categories.

In spite of the bad weather a great selection of cars turned out for our annual concours at Hatfield Porsche. Ashley has summarised the results which are listed below. These will also be posted on the forum.

NATIONAL EVENT - CHATEAU IMPNEY - 18-19 AUGUST 2012

Recently there have been posts on some of the register forums requesting cars for register displays so if you would like to participate in a register display check the forum for your model or contact your register secretary.

For people wanting to join the GT3 Register display you can contact me directly as I am helping Alex Drobnik organise our display and we still have a few places available on both days. (cjames24@hotmail.com)

Please note the following changes to the Saturday evening meal arrangements that we received from club office.

After some very constructive comments from members we have decided that the Saturday evening buffet will be changed to a full sit down 4 course meal. There will be no extra cost to the membership as we will be covering the difference with sponsorship.
We feel sure that you will enjoy this so much better and it also ensures that you will all get excellent value for your money.

The menu is as follows:

Some other 2012 events to plan for and put in your diary

September Club Night "" September 4th "" This will be our quiz night for which Terry has prepared some suitable questions to tax our brains and knowledge.

September Kop Hill Climb "" September 22nd and 23rd (In the Chilterns "" Princes Risborough)
Last year a few of us participated in this event which is an excellent few days of motoring nostalgia.
The 2012 Kop Hill Climb is over the Weekend of Saturday 22nd and 23rd September and Porsche Club GB Chiltern Region 21, will be hosting a display area within the paddock in which you can display your Porsche. To do this you will need to purchase tickets from the Kop Hill Climb website.
Tickets for each, or both days can be booked online, just go to www.kophillclimb.org.uk and follow the instructions under "Entrants"
and Classics/Clubs. The cost to display your Porsche is £20 per day or £30 for the weekend. You will need to print off a copy of the entry form to send with your cheque made payable to "Kop Hill Climb" to :- Kop Hill Climb, PO Box 133, Askett, Princes Risborough, HP27 7AE.

The gates open each day at 08.00 until 17.00 and the entry fee includes a copy of the programme. Children under 12 are free. If you have any questions or require information about Chiltern Regions involvement phone 01296 688760 or email robinjowalker@aol.com.

Chorleywood Classics day "" July 28th "" set up 7am to 9am with show from 10am to 4pm
The show will be held on Chorleywood Common, by and within the grounds of Christ Church School.

Duxford Merlins and Motors Day "" 5th August
IWM at Duxford is holding a Spitfires, Merlins and Motors day on 5 August. We will have a PCGB dedicated car parking site. Admission for car clubs is £9.95 per person which is a discounted rate compared to the standard admission of £17 per person. Clubs will have a designated area and access to all hangars. Opening times will be between 10am and 6pm (usual museum opening hours). There will be Spitfires flying on the day, however it is not an air show as such. Please let John Dunn know if you are going R24@porscheclubgb.com .

Classics on the Green at Tewin "" Sunday 19 August
This is an event that Chiltern Region have participated in before and is arranged by the Friends of Tewin . The details are Tewin ClassicsShow - Sunday 19 August 2012, 12.00 to 5.00, Upper Green, Tewin, AL6 0L. An entry is required with a contribution of £4 per vehicle which will secure your ticket for the display and a souvenir badge. If anyone is keen to participate I have the official entry form which I can forward on request.

Our R21 club night venue location details:
The Rose & Crown is located only a few minutes from the A41 & M25 in the quaint village of Hawridge, which is situated 3 miles from Chesham and 4 miles from Tring and Berkhamsted. The pub's website contact area www.roseandcrownhawridge.co.uk/contact-us/ has detailed information on how to find it.
For those using the good old Ordnance Survey maps, use map 165 and look at map reference 165-949 062 to find the Rose & Crown.
