Auto Gearbox Part Required.

Blew a three inch wide split in the back exhaust box on the 924S this afternoon whilst trying to start the car in Morrison's car park. Good loud bang and plenty of soot flying around. The box hit the pipe that fits onto the see-through plastic filler / level on the back of the gearbox. Back box is available from GSF but need to know the name of the 944 guru in the parts department at Exeter OPC so I can try and get plastic filler /level bit 'cos' that was the weakest link. (Running gear on the 924S same as 944 that is why I'm asking here). As far as I can tell the exhaust has been on since the car came out of the factory in 1986. Can someone out there post his name please (and tel. no. would be handy if poss).

Cheers,

Chris is the main man at Exeter for parts, but all of them seem pretty clued up on the older cars - 01392 822800

Hello Paul,
Spoke to Chris, really helpful and pleasant to talk to.
Ordered the container and the metal pipe - 'o' ring was over £5 and I have a boxes of them in the garage.
Just got to wait now for them coming from Germany via Exeter OPC.

Cheers,
