Auto to manual

Hi,
How dificult/expensive would it be to convert a auto box car to a manaul.
Its a 2.7 lux????
Cheers Dan

I guess the biggest problem is the clutch. You might be into stripping out the pedal box and replacing it with one from a manual car which I think means removal of the dashboard which is long a labour intensive job.

Im sure i read somewhere before that the engines are different on the 2.5 so maybe its the same for the 2.7 but im sure someone on hear will know for definate !!

My local garage was once trying to source your exact make and model. The owner was an advocate of the 2.7 engine coupled to an auto box, said it was a very good combination but sadly not too many of them about. You may get a good price from the right buyer.

Good luck.

A quick synopsys of the differences.

Is the car LHD or RHD? Because hydraulic clutch configuration is different.

1. the transmission tunnel metalwork around the gear lever is different.

2. you will need a clutch pedal (pedals come in at least two variants).

3. You will need to make a hole in the bulkhead for the clutch master cylinder

4. the Auto brake pedal is different also, so you will need a brake pedal with the associated fixings

5. Ignition wiring is different as there is a cutout switch on the auto (Wiring diagram needed to reconfigure ignition switch wiring).

I'll post any other things I remember later.

Generally it can be done but its a lot of work.

My knowledge is based on building an 944S2 racecar using an ex Jap 944 Auto shell.
