auto torque tube damper replacement

Guest

New member
i've been told my torque tube damper needs replacing on my '85 2.5 lux auto.
is this easy? has anybody done this?
i've been quoted a lot of money but he said it was mainly labour and parts charges.
i can get another damper and am confident of doing it myself unless there are hidden dangers?
any help is very welcome.
thanks Matt

I have heard a couple of people mention problems with the torque convertor damper - aparantly this is an expensive rubber item that perishes with age and it is difficult to get hold of a good one other than new. It might be worth trying an American list, e.g. Pelican parts or renlist as they have a lot more autos over there and might be able to help out.
I assume it is similar to a clutch change on a manual car (which I haven't done either) but disconnect shift lever move box back remove torque tube for access.
Sorry can't be of more help than that,
Tony
