Auto trimmers

Hi, I need to get some repairs done to my front seats (leatherette and pasha trim - a thread discussion on its own) and wondered if anyone has any local recommendations?

Any help gratefully received.

Thanks

James

Hi James,

Pascha is easily available again now, there are a couple of suppliers on the continent who are far more economical than the "usually-recommended" UK trimmer!

You could do worse than look for a local classic restorer, and ask them who they use for interiors. I guess that even shipping the seats might be worth it to get a proper job done?

Thanks Paul, it's fairly minor work on seams, drivers' bolster etc, so hope I can find somewhere local.

Is Dorset local enough? I know of a first class trimmer near Bournemouth.

I stumbled across a company in the Luton last week, but don't recall their name unfortunately. They restore classiscs, so worth a google.

Beat me to it! Yes in the chilterns hence the R21 post. You had me worried for a moment that I had posted the entire forum! Got a few ideas from googling.

Q: do I replace the leatherette with same colour leather for a more durable finish? I also feel the standard seats aren't that supportive for the driver...were sport seats an option back in 84?

If it needs replacing then I shouldn't think leather would be any more than vinyl, so worth it IMO. I've never seen it wear out, though!

What about fitting proper, modern sports seats, and keeping the originals to replace when you sell? [8|]

Found Huke Trimmers between Hemel Hempstead and Leighton Buzzard and car booked in during October. Pricing seems very sensible and will let you know what I think post work. Going to fix seams, replace damaged leatherette and renew drivers foam where flatten.

James
