Auto Windscreen have wrecked my interior! Parts needed

Yep. I had a new windscreen fitted to my 90 S2 today. It was a disaster from start to finish. The fitter couldn't locate the top screws holding the A pillar trims on. I said to hold on and I would check indoors in my workshop manual. I came back out to find that he had cut the screen out without removing the trim. In doing do he has sliced the edges of the roof piece and both A pillar trims. I was gutted and he was 'apologetic'. His company has agreed to pay for new pieces. I called Porsche Reading, but the A pillars are now unobtainable. I told the fitter to leave the trim and i would refit them myself.
What's more, the fitter brought the wrong screen trim. ( he had for a 911). Finally, after he went, I found flaws in the screen, so it will need to be replaced again!!! Nightmare.

Can anyone help with replacement trim (black)?

One assumes you havent paid?

If so arrange a date, demand an experienced fitter at their premises then when done deduct your time from the bill also.

Try Alasdair (sulzeruk here), Elliot at Porkaparts (details in faqs) or Simon at SAR. Helen got some parts from Douglas Valley this week without any problems, but I'd rather go there in person than rely on them.

Sorry to hear they messed up, I have a spare top trim (if you mean the bit the sunvisors screw to). They sell for sod all on ebay, because not many get damaged.Let me know if you want it?

The trim pieces are of very little worth, so dont worry: and the cross trim is pretty much worthless. I have one you can have for nothing if youll pay for the postage. Youd be better off collecting one though, as theyre not particularly durable. The A-post trims will sell for a little bit, because they commonly get spoiled when people remove them ineptly. The tricky top screw mounts vertically and not straight through in the direction suggested by the hole in the trim - FYI.

This is what my A-Pillar and Roof Frame trims look like after being modified by an Auto Windscreens fitter. Horrific!

Even the foam edge was damaged as he pulled the trim, trying to locate the top screw (which Porsche had screwed in at an odd angle):

And the roof frame:

Surely a sensible 'professional' would of stopped when they saw the method wasn't working.... wouldn't they? Not just blunder on and wreck all three pieces of trim.

What a numpty.

I have every part you need in stock from a 1990 model - make sure you get the correct pattern in black as it changd from the earlier to later models.

Cheers Elliot

I'm mostly impressed that you got those trim pieces out at all! I removed all the bolts and screws I could see then pulled at them for 10minutes as hard as I dared.. nothing budged so I gave up and screwed them back on!

You'll have to be quick - auction ends 31/8 4.50pm. Not mine BTW, just happened to notice it while browsing and remembered this thread. Hope you get a satisfactory outcome and the idiots that damaged your car pay to put it right!

Why would he want to buy one when Ive offered to give him one?

Hi 944Man,

I tried to PM you, but your inbox is full. Popular chap!

Please send me a PM on how I take up your kind offer.

Cheers,
Marcus

I will have to save some messages before I delete them. If youre not in a big rush then youre more than welcome to the front cross trim. I cant get into my garage at present, but I will send you a message when I can: hopefully soon.

The e-mail function should work fine, the PM option does require the recipient to both read their PMs (sorry guys, I forget [&o]) and delete them.
